Billy McKinney traded to the Dodgers for Carlos Rincon(minor leaguer).

Mets also claimed right-hander Roel Ramírez off waivers from the Cards.

Mets finalizing a deal for the Rays Rich Hill. Reliever Tommy Hunter and catcher Matt Dyer(not to be confused with Duffy) headed to the Rays.

Damn, I knew Hill was old, but, 41?

Not an auspicious beginning for Mr. McKinney in Dodger blue in the field. He tried to make a throw to the cutoff man from right field after diving for a ball, and the throw went about 5 feet in the air.

I hope the Mets can do to Matz what they did to Harvey. No hard feelings......I want to win.

Alonso 3 Blue Jays 0. Megill, Lugo, May, and Diaz shut them out on 3 hits, with Megill getting his first major league win.

Happily the HR Derby doesn't seem to have done Alonso any harm this time.

I keep hearing rumors about Kris Bryant.
    NO THANK YOU.

We’re already held hostage at SS and the #2 hole for the next 10 years.
The last thing I want is to also be held hostage at 3rd and #3.
All JD Davis does is hit. WHY would I want to replace him??
He’s the only thing Brodie got right.

3rd base isn’t the problem on this team.
Get me some damn arms for the BP so I don’t need to see Castro and Familia in big spots.

I agree, truth, but, 2nd base? I think Cano has only 2 years left after this season, and hopefully, we dump him and pay his salary( or most of it). I'd rather stock up on pitching. You can never have enough.

I guess it was Walker who would have the All-Star hangover, not Alonso.

Idiotic double steal attempt with McCann as the lead runner, and he makes the third out at third base to end the inning. Is he that stupid, or is Rojas? I wish I could say that I'm sure Rojas wouldn't do something that brainless, but I can't.

I continue to be mystified why Eickhoff is on this team. What is it about a 1.800 WHIP that isn't obvious?

Mets have now thrown in the towel on this game. They'll just let this POS Eickhoff get his brains bashed in.

3 1/3 innings, 10 earned runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks. They seriously brought this guy back?

Thank you for saying that. I was thinking the same thing. Hopefully, it is the last we see of Eickhoff. Are we finally done with all these doubleheaders? They seem to have all come at a horrible time for our pitching staff.

Hopefully we get a better performance than what we saw last night. Holy shit.

    Per Betonline:

    Kris Bryant: +200 (favorite)
    Max Scherzer: +300 (favorite)
    Craig Kimbrel: +325 (favorite)

Anyone opposed to us getting any of these players?

Get pitching! If you can't get a quality starter, get pen help and move Lugo into the rotation. Eickhoff should never start another game.

It's a shame the Mets don't really have much maneuverability in the outfield and their only spot seems to be at 3rd or 2nd if they move McNeil over because Starling Marte is a perfect fit. Solid average/speed guy who doesn't strike out a ton.

Bryant rebounded nicely in July but he still is heavily skewed towards wrecking left handed pitching while being mediocre against right handers. I imagine Bryant will also be a decent sized capital investment given the perceived future potential since he already has an MVP under his belt.

Do the Mets struggle against southpaws? I know they're relatively left-handed in the lineup.

On your second point about Bryant - I would absolutely rather give Bryant a large sum of money than someone like Conforto. Conforto has played his way right out of a Springer type deal.. such a shame.

Bryant / Baez + Kimbrel would really, really move the needle for me. I would give up whatever it takes. There is no reason to not go for it this year in such a weak division with a 4 game lead over Philly. The Mets are a scary team in a short series with the staff they have.

So two of the three best players available will do it for you? :D

I'm with you though. I've transformed into a Yankees fan who now roots for the Mets so I hope they make some moves. Their ability to win a World Series hinges on Degrom being healthy though.

I hope they go for it. Scherzer would be a deadly add too.
