Ya knucklehead, I agree with you that people aren't entitled to their own facts! I just simply pointed out that one can't always have productive discussions because some people refuse to see what we do (reality). You're the one being combative. You jumped on Colorado, then me.
When I made the simple & universal statement “if we can’t on facts we can never have a productive discussion” you asked me if this was my first day on TGG board, implying it was something unique to the TGG board…. To clarify, when I said “we” I wasn’t talking about you and me or me and posterX. I was making a general statement about people. We live in a world where facts are often confused with opinions and in my opinion it is preventing our society as a whole from having productive discussions about various issues.
I didn’t jump on Colorado, I mentioned his choice right vs. happy is inline with the common phrase “ignorance is bliss”. I certainly didn’t start combative but I always reply in kind, as I’m sure many of us do.
I totally know the bold. We are in total agreement with that, and it makes me nuts how ignorant and out of touch with reality so many people are. Part of the reason our society has lost the ability to have productive discussions, is that we weren't taught how to. Instead, we were taught to just avoid controversial topics. How are we going to solve problems if we can't discuss them and come to some consensus? It's part of why our two political parties can't work together any more. They refuse to listen to each other. It's sad, and is going to bring about the demise of our country.
That's YOUR perception. IMO making that statement to him in reponse to his post made it sound to me like you were saying that he was "ignorant." This may come as a shock to you, but your perspective isn't the only one that matters.
