I've only seen bits and pieces of the press conference but it seems like Saleh was solid. He said the right things about Sam, praised him but didn't commit to him. That's the correct move regardless of whether they want to keep him or trade him and it shows some media savvy from Saleh. I've seen some people say he was a bit nervous - I think that's actually a good thing if so. It shows he cares and that this is all very important to him.

Not concerned about the DC hire, that side of the ball will be heavily influenced by Saleh and everything seems to indicate he's a great defensive coach. The 4-3 also fits our personnel better which is kind of comical considering we've run a 3-4 for the last decade. Just further evidence of how bad a GM Mac was.

We are going to need A LOT of help on offense. Becton is presumably a poorer fit for Shanahan's scheme than others, a scheme which favors mobile OL over massive ones. Our WR's are also not a great fit for the Shanahan offense which generally favors WR's who are good at getting YAC. We have basically one guy who fits that mold currently in Crowder.

Becton isn't unathletic, I think he'll be fine. He's mobile enough for his size.

Mims can do this, and showed a few times where he stiff armed the first guy. His sample size is small b/c the QB stinks- so his targets and hist catch rfate are both abysmally low.

YAC/R for Chowda was 5.4, Mims was 4.6

Another contrasting opening press conference that highlights how good the Saleh hire feels right now. We've got the memory of Gase going Crazy Eyes Killer, the Dan Campbell cannibalism moment last week, and today Nick Sirianni being introduced by the Eagles and looking like me when I got to school and totally forgot I had a major presentation due in my first period class.

I gave a presentation for a promotion in an assessment center, I looked out the window for so long the panel started looking out the window to see what I was looking at.

    It was so bad!!

I'm glad I was wrong and we didn't land the two offensive minded HC's who I wanted in Jim Harbaugh out of Michigan and/or Bill Cowher out of retirement.

Because this addition of coach Robert Saleh heading into 2021 has me feeling like Bill Parcells heading into 1997 and/or Rex Ryan heading into 2009 Pt.3 all over again.

We've yet to play a single game and throughout only OTA's and Mini-camp I believe and feel as if he's already changed the culture of our entire locker room.

Only 42 years of age and as a physical freak he's in the weight room and lifting weights alongside of his own players?

These kids are going to love running through brick walls for this man (while developing into young men themselves under him).

There is something very real about magnetism.

While I despise the "running through walls" phrase and always have- I "get it" as far as being fully committed on behalf of your leader.

Saleh is not a buffoon like Rex. The team will play smart, hard, and be disciplined. The team will be prepared to play each and every week and there will be solid game plans each week, not awful game plans many weeks, and then a few good and even brilliant ones mixed in. The Jets will not become a 3-ring circus under JD and Saleh. You can book on that!
