    Thank you for bringing this up. How true. The amount of zip, poise, and type of throws I have seen from Wilson as a raw rookie were never present in either Sam nor Mark to the best of my recollection. This kid has a special something that I have not seen in any Jet QB since KOB.

    This isn't fair to use against him.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    @ Tennessee: SEC.
    (8-5 on the year).
    19/29 (65.5%), 232 passing yards, 1 TD/0 INTs, QB Rating of 141.1 and wins the game 29-26
    in double overtime.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    vs. USC: Pac-12.
    (8-5 on the year).

    20/33 (60.6%), 280 passing yards, 1 TD/0 INTs, 1 rushing TD, QB Rating of 141.9 and wins the game 30-27 in overtime.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    vs. Tennessee / USC (combined):
    (16-10 on the year).
    Zach Wilson
    39/62 (62.9%), 512 passing yards, 2 TD's/0 INTs, 1 rushing TD, QB Rating of 141.5 @ 29.5 points per game with a record and
    both wins coming up clutch in overtime(s).
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    @Br4d those two SEC and Pac-12 wins with BYU weren't during Covid either and they both happened within packed stadiums with both @ Tennessee fans and BYU fans in an absolute frenzy.

    Take away Mac Jones from that Alabama Offense and they'll still win with either me or you @ QB but then take away Zack Wilson from BYU and guess what happens to poor BYU they get destroyed @ Tennessee and vs. USC.

    Zach Wilson I believe could've not only played and competed his butt off against bigger conferences but he would've also won within the SEC and Pac-12 play (once surrounded by better players for teammates you know).

    And for all the using it as a "knock" against Wilson, his game against Coastal Carolina this year actually demonstrates his ability even more. Anyone who uses that game to "prove" Wilson isn't very good either didn't actually watch the game, or they have a bias against Wilson regardless of what he does. The one interception in that game was off a Hail Mary pass at the end of the half that actually should've been called P.I. except that they were playing at C.C. with their refs. And in the end, with 34 seconds left and inside his own 10 yard line he drove them down field and came within a yard of getting the winning TD. Wilson not only has the physical skills to excel, he has the mental and emotional strength too. I'm not going to try to understand why some people want to continue to put him down, but their POV isn't supported by the facts.

    This is false and misleading. He did not go 2-0. He went 2-2 against SEC/PAC 12 teams in 2019, 2-3 for his career. He lost to Utah (x2) and Washington. Not sure why you left them out.

    Wilson really struggled in that 2019 Utah game. 2 pick 6s and a fumble

    He also lost to Utah as a Freshman of 2018 and you're right, I slept on both of Utah/Washington because being born in Queens and raised in Florida I've mostly only focused on SEC/ACC Football and not really Mountain football @ all so my mistake I'm not a scout.

    Zach Wilson @ Utah
    (Freshman 2018).
    20/29 (69.0%).
    204 passing yards.
    73 rushing yards (5.2 yards per carry).
    277 combined offensive yards.
    2 TDs/1 INT.
    27 points scored (BYU D = 35 allowed).
    QB Rating of 143.9.

    This (below) is the game he struggled and tossed two INTs vs. Utah for pick 6's you're right it was a bad game for him as a Sophomore QB a really bad game.

    Zach Wilson vs Utah
    (Sophomore 2019).
    21/33 (63.6%).
    208 passing yards.
    0 TDs/2 INTs.
    Lost 30-12 (1st game of the season).
    QB Rating of 104.5.

    But you know what we can't take away from him? Is how the following two weeks after this Utah nightmare? He upsets both Tennessee on the road and USC @ home with back to back A+ bounce back games and we can't take that away from him (that's mentally tough following Utah's week 1 season opening loss).

    And then come the offseason he learned from those week 1 Utah mistakes as a raw Sophomore and goes off and explodes for 33 TDs/3 INTs with a QB Rating of 196.4 which now ranks 6th All-Time and gets drafted #2 overall and higher than any BYU player ever (dates back to 100 years ago 2022).

    Thnx you for pointing that Utah game out to me @BrowningNagle just goes to show us his heart, character, focus and overall resiliency.

    As I recall from my research, in 2019 after Wilson got hurt the coaches and fans thought his replacement Baylor Romney looked better then Zack. In fact, Romney finished with a 159 QBR vs Wilson's 130. Even Jarrod Hall in one start looked better then Zack that year. Wilson had to win a competition at camp the next season to get the starting job back.

    DWC is seriously overrating Wilson's 2019 season.

    Really nice post @ColoradoContrails his performance against Costal Carolina was a really good one and was only 2 yards away in a game of inches from another @ Tennessee like magical moment.

    @ Costal Carolina
    19/30 (63.3%), 240 passing yards, 55 rushing yards, 1 TD/0 INTs (not counting bs hail marry).
    QB Rating of 134.9.

    I especially agree with the bold (above).

    Only because after his two Pick 6's during week 1 against Utah the following two weeks after his Utah nightmare he responded immediately and upsets both @ Tennessee and vs. USC at with (back to back) A+ bounce back performances. We can not take that away from him because that's actually the definition of Quarterbacking mental toughness.

    Tom Brady's thrown 16 career pick 6's but who cares because he's always responded to them right.

    I think it's more "embarrassing" for Trevor Lawrence to play for a top 1-3 Clemson powerhouse team vs a weaker Syracuse team but yet still throws a pick 6 and/or his two 1st Q INTs vs an overmatched and overwhelmed Louisville defense....

    Than it was for Zach Wilson of BYU to throw 2 pick 6's against a top 14 Utah team (while getting QB pressured and rushed like no tomorrow behind overmatched and overwhelmed O-Lineman).

    Zach Wilson = 319 passing attempts (2019).

    Baylor Romney = 85 passing attempts (2019).

    Not a fair comparison because Romney barely played man and I've never read about or even seen his name before this post?

    Jarrod Hall played in 5 games of 2019 but yet BYU's coaching staff only allowed and let him throw the ball 46 times with only 1 TD pass throughout all of 2019. I've never read about him before either I've never seen his name before.

    I am seeing that he lost to a pretty bad 4-8 USF team with only 23 passing attempts and for only 148 passing yards with 1 TD and then the only other game I could find was his game the following week where he plays against Utah State but only throws the football 16x with 0 TDs

    I wouldn't say that Hall (whoever he is) has ever looked anywhere near better than this Wilson kid? Because those are pretty big BYU shoes to fill.

    Na man. Overrating is using an example of only 85 passing attempts for Romney (2019) and/or only 46 passing attempts from Hall (career) in comparison to that of Zach Wilson's 837 career passing attempts @ BYU.

    In regards to QB Rating?

    Zach Wilson:
    QB Rating of 196.4.
    #6th All-Time (dating back to 1956).
    Drafted #2 overall (higher than Steve Young).

    I'd like to first wait and see if one of either Romney/Hall becomes selected and then drafted into the NFL as a #1 overall pick (because that'll be the first time and probably the only time we could ever say that they were any better than this Wilson kid.

    Thnx you and when healthy against pretty much the same Utah program just the year before he played much better against them.

    Zach Wilson @ Utah (Freshman 2018).

    20/29 (69.0%).
    204 passing yards.
    73 rushing yards (5.2 yards per carry).
    277 combined offensive yards.
    2 TDs/1 INT.
    27 points scored (BYU D = 35).
    QB Rating of 143.9.

    Almost upset Utah as a kid Freshman if only BYU's Defense wouldn't have given up 35 pts.

    It's the offseason + I enjoy post's of both @ouchy and @BrowningNagle + if everyone agreed with one another it'll be a long and boring off-season (for me at least) while not being able to question/go after people's questionable posts ahhh

    It's all good no big deal I mean people can harp all over his week 1 two pick 6's against Utah while others take note on how he responded, bounced back, recovered and delivered the following two weeks (back to back) throughout weeks 2 & 3 @ Tennessee and vs USC within SEC and Pac-12 Conference Play to the tune of (below)

    2-0.
    39/62 (69.2%).
    512 Passing yards.
    2 TDs/0 INTs.
    1 Rushing TD.
    29.5 points per game.
    QB Rating of 143.0.

    To each our own I just figured most Jets fans would be proud to have a kid QB with already his mental toughness and resiliency because to follow up his Utah's nightmare with back to back A+ performances @ Tennessee and vs. USC was a pretty special thing to do.

    No my recollection is correct. At the end of 2019 they were questioning if Wilson should remain the starter.

    During draft season I researched everything available on Wilson. This included going through BYUs 2019 press releases, message boards, etc. The general consensus at the time was that Romney looked better out there then Wilson. This could be that Wilson was struggling with injuries? But it was a fact, and the reason Wilson was on nobodies top QB rankings going into 2020.

    Here are their 2019 stats

    Wilson............................Romney
    Att - 319................................85
    Completions - 199................54
    Comp % - 62.4.....................63.5
    Yards - 2382.........................747
    YPA - 7.5...............................8.8
    TD - `11..................................7
    INT - 9....................................2
    Rating - 130.8......................159.8

    We can give Wilson a pass for having more starts and attempts as to why some of the percentages are lower. What we cant overlook is Wilson threw 11 TDs to 9 INTs in 319 attempts. While Romney threw 7 TDs to 2 INTs in 85 attempts. Now in your world, you would say "if Romney would have had 319 attempts he would have had 25 TDs and 7 INTs. Therefore he is WAY better."

    The fact remains that its easy to see why during 2019 people started to question if Wilson should even be the #1 QB. During draft time we at TGG agreed it was likely because of Wilson's injuries. But we didn't pretend Wilson had a good season. At least get the excuse right. He struggled in 2019, hopefully because of injuries.

    I never said you couldn't use Moore's stats because he only had 8 games. I said that equating a 1.0 TD per game percentage to a 1.7 wasn't comparable like you were implying. 1.7 is considerably better then 1.0.

    Of course he does, Colorado. IMO if fans can't see his talents it's because their mindset is stuck 20 years in the past, they don't want to see it, they don't know how to evaluate QBs, or they have some ulterior motive.

    La Fleur pointed to that game in the video and how Zach kept his cool, his eyes downfield when he got heavy pressure, and he didn't have a hitch. He stayed loose and free. I got the feeling that that game sealed the deal on the Jets' decision to draft him.

    Our past is the past but what about Romney's 2020 encore since it's all about improving right?

    Zach Wilson: (2020).
    12 games.
    247/336 (73.5%).
    3,692 Passing yards (307 per game).
    (11.0 yards per pass attempt).
    33 TDs (2.7 per game).
    3 INTs (0.2 per game).
    QB Rating of 196.4.

    Baylor Romney: (2020).
    5 games.
    24/35 (68.6%).
    261 passing yards (52.2 per game).
    (7.5 yards per attempt).
    1 TD (0.2 per game).
    1 INT (0.2 per game).
    QB Rating: 134.9.

    @ouchy if we're going to talk about QB Ratings and who's better than who etc why not acknowledge truth my Jets brother?

    B.) Zach Wilson's 2020 QB Rating of 196.4 is the 6th highest All Time (within NCAA history).

    Y.) Zach Wilson just became the highest drafted BYU player in Franchise history @ #2 overall (dates back to 1922 of 99 years ago) and even higher than STEVE YOUNG).

    U.) Baylor Romney will (chances are) probably never get drafted #1 overall (nor ever be considered as being better than Zach Wilson).

    my only hope is that both Wilson and Fields turn into HOF QBs. Mac Jones and Trey Lance and Trevor "pretty boy" Lawrence can all go pound sand and kick rocks, to quote Vilma.

    Why do you want Fields to become a HOF QB?
