All of us have had to many "Charlie Brown trying to kick the football from Lucy" moments with this team. JD does appear to be addressing the needs of this team. Building around and developing Wilson to play at the NFL level is obviously the key here. As for Saleh we won't know what kind of coach he will be until the games start but his former players all loved the guy. Basically they all said he was a great leader (the opposite of Gase) and would run thru a wall for the guy. I get that talk is cheap but I am optimistic Douglas and Saleh can develop a winning culture. We will find out in the next few years.

I'm with you Mr. Jet. Trading up for Vera Tucker seems to be the right move. "Seems" is always the key word for us, but this guy looks like a solid can't miss. I'd give away 8 draft picks for 4 can't miss players. OK, 3. Wilson is the great unknown. All I have to go by is comments from teammates (not beat reporters) and we are already hearing good things. The failure of Darnold haunts me and makes me realize I can not count on anything. What surprises me about Br4d's comment was that he doesn't see a change with how our GM is operating, and has a different reign of power than the last few. Sure, I can be misled as I was with Darnold, but I'm saying no, this is different. Just the fact that we stopped piling up defensive drafts picks early is refreshing. And, I'm not sure what FA's JD should have signed this year. Most of us are pleased he isn't spending wildly to plus a hole or two. I think JD's draft class this year have players who will fill roles we didn't know they were meant to fill - like big safties becoming hybrid LB'ers.

Of course, I am a Jets fan, making me somewhat gullible and foolhardy. But I can spell J E T S Jets

    Really?

Our Jets GM in Joe Douglas just utilized our first 4 picks (all on offense) for the 1st time since dating back to damn near 40 years ago of 1983.

    QB: Zach Wilson.
    LG: Alijah Vera-Tucker.
    WR: Elijah Moore.
    RB: Michael Carter.

But yet you're saying the cycle is no different? You couldn't be more wrong.

PS: The player who we traded up for in the 1st round? Alijah Vera-Tucker? He was rated, graded and ranked as the #1 interior O-Lineman within the entire Country coming out (at a serious position of need).

Mekhi Becton/Vera-Tucker have the most potential (as an O-Line tandem/duo) since dating back to D'Brickishaw Ferguson/Nick Mangold (2006).

But yet, same things over and over again? I couldn't disagree any more.

When's the last time a Jets GM traded away a player and received two 1st round draft picks in return?

Repeating the same old patterns? Check this out...

    • Dating back to 2007 and throughout 2019 (13 years) our previous 3 GMs have only drafted a combined 3 O-Lineman/WR's throughout the first two rounds (0 1st rounders) ala...

2010: OT. Vlad Ducasse (2nd round).
2012: WR. Stephen Hill (2nd round).
2015: WR. Devin Smith (2nd round).

That's, disgusting (it's been absolutely criminal).

✓ In comparison to Joe Douglas who's already drafted a combined 4 O-Lineman/WR's throughout the first two rounds during his (only) two drafts ala...

2020: LT: Mekhi Becton (1st round).
2020: WR: Denzel Mims (2nd round).
    2021: LG: Alijah Vera-Tucker (1st round).
2022: WR: Elijah Moore (2nd round).

Do you not see, the difference?

Our 3 previous GMs have completely ignored and neglected our O-Line and WR position(s) throughout a 13 year span with a combined 3 picks Invested into those key Offensive positions (throughout the first two rounds).

    Vs.

Joe Douglas who's completely revamped both of our O-Line and WR position(s) throughout his first 2 drafts with a combined 4 picks Invested into these key Offensive positions (throughout the first two rounds).

Not sure why you're so down @Br4d but hopefully my post (above) has cheered you up a little (because JD has been, well; different).

And you know what else is different in comparison to years past?

A.) 2022: 4 draft picks throughout the first two rounds ala...

    1st round pick (Ours).
    1st round pick (Seattle's).
    2nd round pick (Ours).
    2nd round pick (Carolina's).

Meaning that J.D will add another 4 players (throughout the first two rounds) in order to become 4 more core players alongside of Zach Wilson, Mekhi Becton, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Denzel Mims and Elijah Moore; that's insane.

B.) Available salary cap space galore ala...

Here in 2021 JD has the 3rd most available salary cap to spend during the offseason @ $27,076,895 (only behind Denver and Jacksonville).

And heading into next years Free Agency class of 2022 JD has positioned us to rank 3rd in available salary cap space (only behind Pittsburgh and Indianapolis) with a whooping $71,650,848 to spend on a potentially LOADED FA class

(in comparison to Buffalo lol who's only projected to have a pathetic $1,054,831in available salary cap space despite still needing to extend and pay Josh Allen, long term).

Joe Douglas gets an A++ and has us in awesome position moving forward with both early draft picks and available salary cap space (galore).

I alluded to all the above without actually stating it ;):p
