It's odd that they include rookie QBs in the list. You can't reasonably compare their college stats to the NFL.

Agree with both posts above. Rookies should not be on the list. Baker is not top 10 on any team.....

This whole article is not worth the paper it's written on. After the top five it's a joke

Ya, at first it seems odd. But PFF followed all these rookie QBs thru out their college careers, and know them well. PFF also knows the NFL scene pretty good too. I think they slotted them pretty close. Trevor, Fields, Zack 21,25,28 seems OK.

Darnold 28 sounds right. I’d have the rookies round out the last spots.

Given his suporting cast Darnold should be at least the 28th best QB when we look at the stats after next season is over.

What makes college scouting difficult is that you are working off bad data. These guys all play completely different teams and are surrounded by different levels of talent.

Baker and Goff showed their true colors when they couldn’t beat a historically bad Jets team in games their team had to have. So what if Baker had a couple of receivers out? The Jets were starting 2 UDFAs and a 5th round rookie at DB.

PFF are a bunch of clueless morons. Wilson ranked behind Darnold, Fields and Lawrence is a joke.

Mayfair not good? ROFLMAO Whatever. To each his own.

Wilson at #30 is a joke. He hasn't even played yet, but 29 QB's are better including Lawrence, Fields and even Darnold? Pretty dumb.

Sam at 28 is a little low for me, but coming off of 2020, it is higher than I expected. I would probably rank him near the Top 20. I wouldn't rank the rookies yet, because it is ridiculous.

    My Top 5 would be:
    1. Patrick Mahomes
    2. Aaron Rodgers
    3. Russell Wilson
    4. Tom Brady
    5. Deshaun Watson

You've been posting articles that cite PFF "analytics" for six months. Now they're a joke because they disagree with your opinion.

Yep exactly. PFF is rather dumb though I don't see anything egregiously wrong with their rankings other than trying to mix rookies in ahead of proven pro-players. Full disclosure - I didn't read any of their BS supporting evidence that they disguise as analytics but it's not really that bad of a list. They could probably shuffle around the top 5-8 a bit differently depending on ones viewpoint.

What am I missing that has everyone so upset?

Brady number 2? Not at this stage in his career

    1. Mahomes
    2. Rodgers
    3. Josh Allen
    4. Matt Ryan
    5. Kyler Murray

Russell has gotten way to dependent on scrambling (watch Kurts' Breakdown)

How can you rank a player that has never taken an NFL stamp. I do think ZW will be the best of the rookie QB's. Urban Meyer is going to be a big flop in the NFL.

I can't get worked up over a list that isn't egregious. The author who happens to be a former QB is higher on Lawrence and Fields than Wilson. Not unreasonable at all. Let Wilson prove he's better than both on the field.

What does his age or stage in his career matter? He was third in the league in yards, ninth in passer rating, second in touchdowns and won the Super Bowl. He's plenty qualified to be rated as the second best quarterback that beat both guys you ranked #1 and 2 in the playoffs.

True, but the same can be said for the NFL. I wonder if Zach woulda been slated higher if he'd been drafted by a top team, stuff like that.

even odder that pff ranked him higher then fields for their 2020 seasons and zach comes from a more pro ready offense and did more pro QB things then fields.

@FJF just spitballin' a new idea here, but I think the reason why they had Sam listed like that is for the reason you stated. Just sayin'.

-Mayfield, Roethlisberger, Daniel Jones ranked too high

-Watson, not sure he should even be ranked as he won't be a starter week 1

-Herbert, Burrow, Stafford and Goff are ranked too low
