It's no secret that players bust at a high rate. I don't consider anything lower then a 4th a bust really as you don't expect much. The chances of hitting on all 4 of our top picks are slim even if they look great on paper. 1) wilson - QBs are a high bust position and the last 2 we took top 5 (darnold and sanchez) were busts and we haven't drafted a good QB since 2000 with pennington. also on the list hackenberg, geno, petty to name a few 2) AVT - OGs rarely bust he's probably pretty low on the chances but still a LT making the transition to LG. who knows? erick flowers was a high pick bust even when he tried to move to OG 3) Moore - WRs have a high bust rate. and our 2nd round WRs have not been good. stephen hill, devin smith to name a couple. 4) Carter - RBs have a low bust rate but we drafted perine in the 4th and he looks like a bust so far.
Statistically it's Wilson or Moore. Wilson because QB's bust at a higher rate than other positions and Moore because 2nd round picks bust more often than 1st round picks.
Lol. Getting picked 3rd overall and being the lowest rated starter in the entire league over your first 3 seasons=/=bust?
I can understand the sentiment that he had a raw deal and can still wind up a good QB. but as far as for the jets you have to consider the pick a bust since we spent 3 2nds and a 6th overall to move up to 3rd overall, took darnold. went 3 season with him with no playoffs and his numbers being bad as well as our record, then traded him away for a future 2nd, future 4th, and current 6th and replaced him with the 2nd overall pick
He was also in the worst situation in football, so while there's pretty much zero chance at this point that he'll be elite, he could still be a decent starter.
Add the options: we beat all the odds and have 4 studs if you really want to look back down the road.
AVT isn't really making a transition from LT to LG. He played LG in 2019. He's just moving back to his more natural and better position. I'm not a betting man, but Moore is not gonna bust. If any of our first 4 picks bust, it will be Carter imo, but I don't think he will bust. IMO the only way Wilson busts is if he can't stay healthy.
just being realistic and good point of reference to come back on years from now I'm aware, we've had this discussion before. I'm just trying to make a case for each player
I voted Wilson he is high risk high reward Im not sold on him yet he had 1 good year with weak opponents while he looks like he thrives in chaos need to see him against elite NFL talent before really being sure he is the real deal or another Jets bust at QB. Don't think the remaining 3 will be bust anything they will be good players don't see them being bad either Wilson will be great or he will be a disasterdont see him being just good the way he plays will be the leader in pick sixes be gone in 3 years or he will be a elite QB.
If Wilson busts the Jets are going to be so screwed it won't even be funny. And if he busts AND Darnold ends up being a solid starter for Carolina there will be no words... So we all better hope to hell if any of the Jets draft picks bust its anybody but Zach. Otherwise I'm afraid there is going to be a high level of frustration around here.
