Not a big surprise that a pathetic power play costs them at the end, even with it being 6-on-4.

1st line did absolutely nothing in the first two games

Eberle made some terrible plays in the third period of this game that could have led to goals against, and Barzal has been invisible in both games.

They need to get Leo off the 1st line. He is OK on the PK but he brings nothing to the table offensively. If Trotz doesn't want to break up JGP and KP then he needs to put Wahlstrom on the 1st line. Oliver can snipe and is someone who can convert Barzal setting him up with chances unlike Leo. Overall not a bad spot to be in 1-1 coming to Nassau with home ice. In a game Pitt absolutely had to have they only won 2-1. That's with Varlamov giving up a horrible 1st goal of the game. The Isles have the better goaltending and I am sticking to my original prediction of Isles in 6.

While I sure didnt expect a sweep by any stretch, that was disappointing..... come out flat as a pancake, then regain momentum, only to blow a great opportunity at the end.

I think home cooking will be good for them.

Big game tonight. Hopefully they can take advantage of home ice. LGI

Barzal has to play way better than he's been playing, and I'm not sure that's in him.

I don't know what Trotz sees in playing Leo much less on the 1st line. If it were me I would either move Palmieri up the 1st line or Wahlstrom and see how it goes.

Just like I still don't understand why he kept playing MDC in so many games.

Meanwhile, another flat first period... 1-0 Pens

    Very nice drag-and-shoot by Mayfield.

    Varlamov back to less-than-impressive play.

Bad play by Leddy and Varlamov again imitates a statue as it sails by. Looks like Varlamov will be so bad tonight that Trotz will have to start Sorokin next game.

All 10 players on the ice penalized at the same time - I don't think I've ever seen that before other than in the old days of bench-clearing brawls.

Referees let Crosby get out of the penalty box on the goal in complete contradiction to the rules, and now he gets to be on the power play for Pittsburgh. Why didn't Trotz go crazy when they let Crosby served someone else's penalty and not his own?
