ah so you don't like the down by contact rule. that is where I was confused. I mean a play has to have a definite end condition. if it doesn't end when a player is down if he fumbles at least IMO it makes the game more convoluted for the players on when to stop and when not to. it's best to have definitive ends to plays IMO

No, it doesn't. When a catch is clearly made, then the receiver should be viewed as a RB at that point. If the receiver is then immediately tackled before he can make a football move, he cannot help that, thus when he hits the ground, he should be considered down. Just because the ball moves in his hands after he hits the ground doesn't mean that the pass should then be considered incomplete. That's not only irrational, but dumb.

It would be a different matter if the WR was juggling the ball all the way to the ground or if the ball was moving the whole time and the receiver clearly didn't have control of the ball, and/or if the ground helped him secure the catch. Then that should be an incomplete pass.

except a catch isn't made until a football move is made or is tackled while maintaining possession so at this point you are talking about a completely different rule which is what is posession

That's where the stupidity comes in declaring that a catch isn't made until a football move is made. Many, many times in every football game, catches are clearly made and receiver tackled before he can make a football move. For the most part, it's easily discernible whether a player catches the ball or not and whether he has possession. To make the definition of what a catch is the way they did is dumb imo. It takes away from the game, slows it down reviewing the tape, and puts too much power in the hands of the stupid referees, many of whom are blind, and raises the question of whether games are fixed.

You're defending the rule by using the rule. Break it down, step back and look at it. You should see what I mean.

the problem is you keep changing which rule, we started with ground can't cause a fumble, i debated it then you switched to down by contact we debated it, now you switched to what a catch is. I cna't debate a point when you switch goalposts every time i make one
