If the third string QB took a cheap shot and no one came to his defense it said MORE about the players that didn’t help him
It's not going to go like that. He's going to have a great debut game and then everything is going to go south from there. Sanchez/Darnold style.
I agree that he did get a fair shot. It was not an easy road for Darnold by any stretch of the imagination, however. He had maybe the 2nd worst coach of all time next to Hugh Jackson, but I still did want him and was really excited when we picked him. I really thought he was going to be the guy. If he lights it up in Carolina, it will just be another feather in the cap of jets futility, but I don't see it. I see him being average with flashes of great and a bunch of awful stemming from excellent athletic ability, bad footwork, and just looking like shit when he throws. Even if he is very good with the panthers, as long as Wilson is better here, we win. I am in the minority who hopes he is awful in Carolina and the Jets made the clear and obviously correct move in trading him/drafting Wilson.
NOTHING wrong with this stance at all. A lot of people are taking this approach and I respect it. I can't help myself though. I am a Jets fan that wears his emotions on his sleeve. I am rooting/hoping like crazy that Zach, Saleh, Douglas are the men to turn this around. If they don't, I will continue to wear my emotions on my sleeve by being an emotional wreck until I have my next new hope.
I can certainly understand and respect that. Anyone who has been a Jets fan for more than one minute has known frustration, disappointment, and depression. For those who have been fans for a decade or more, then we really have good reason to be skeptical. I have been there before, but it's not a happy place to be. I hope that you skepticism will not be rewarded and that you will be pleasantly surprised and become as excited as some of us already are this year when the Jets show that they have turned the page and are building a team we can all get behind and get excited about!
Our new duo on a dude date at Luigi's--I love the rapport these guys are building! New Penny-Coles, Sanchez-Braylon?
There is a lot of hope and realistically the ‘Same ole Jets’ doesn’t apply. New staff, new scouts, new attitude at some point it has to change. Prior Jets administrations failing doesn’t mean this one has to fail.
A couple of fluff articles about watching film, and now we have "the leader we need"? lol, leadership and/or watching film was never the issue. It was Gase as HC, combined with the worst roster in the league. The single most impactful change the Jets made this year was upgrading the coaching staff. Having Saleh and Lafleur here is going to make a world of difference, a benefit Wilson will have that Darnold never did.
