Starting to warm up to the idea of Terrance Marshall Jr (via trade down). He reminds me of Brandon Marshall
He checks all the boxes, looks like a prototypical NFL WR. Only question is do we need another guy in the same exact mode as Mims and Davis vs a guy like either of the Moores...
This can get a little long, but it's what us armchair GM's do. CB is our current biggest weakness. It can be fixed with 2 options. Early 2nd rd pick, draft either Campbell or Samuel(whomever the staff likes more) and Free Agency. There are still guys available in FA that can start day 1 for us. S. Nelson, Conley, Sherman. We have money, but we can also get more money. We could put AV Tucker in as our RT. Doing so, would allow us to cut Fant post June 1 and save almost 5M. This money can go to signing the free agent CB's. More money can be saved by cutting G-Lewis. While I like the idea of trading back our #2 pick in 2nd round... the Jets NEED IMPACT players more than just players. Campbell or Samuel can be an impact player. Draft one of them, then sign CBs in FA. What hurts is then not picking until early 4th, BUT that can be fixed... if there is a guy(Guard, since I say above about moving Tucker to RT and cutting Lewis) they like in the 3rd, we have 11 picks already for the 2022 draft. We could trade a 3rd in 22 + a 5th this year to jump back into the 3rd, for an IMPACT player. There is great depth at OT/G/C in this draft... not so much CB beyond rd 2.
Again, I prefer Jenkins, but am a little concerned about the report/rumor that there were some vague "issues" floated with him. I haven't seen anything further so don't know if it's real or not, but maybe that's why he fell out of the 1st round. If they don't take Jenkins for whatever reason, there are still some OL that could start Day 1 and could probably be had a few picks later, so a small trade back that gets us a 3rd rounder would then be my preference. On a side note: why are so many here saying they'd be ok dropping back 10-15 picks and hope for a 3rd in return? The Cowboys got a 3rd and only dropped 2 spots. Yeah, I know they were swapping 1st rounders, but #34 is almost a first rounder. I'd be shocked - and disappointed - if JD drops more than 4-5 spots to pick up a 3rd.
I might be wrong but I believe Jenkins issues are taking plays off. Maybe you're referencing something different but I have a friend that researched him pretty deeply and that's what he relayed to me.
Yeah, that's probably what I'm referring to - I can't find the actual post about him, but it alluded to "football related issues" or something like that, so what you're saying fits. In that case, that concerns me - IDK if it concerns Douglas though, but I'm guessing it would.
I guess it depends who you could get in both rounds (2+3) - I could live with trading 34 for 44 and getting Dallas 3rd rounder pick 75. 44 - Creed Humphery 75 - Michael Carter perhaps better than either just Jenkins or Williams...
Take it for what its worth but Jets draft odds are weird. Currently odds for Jets first pick of today is below. Defensive Lineman +150 Offensive Lineman +275 Running Back +300 Linebacker +300 Cornerback +450 What Defensive Lineman are favored to land here? Or does Vegas think we are trading down already?
Would be difficult for me to pass on RB Williams--The jets need a dose of excitement at their dull RB position.
the coverage on NFL network. i forgot which analyst reported it but said JDs been on the phones the past few hours and are being lit up and that 34 is a hot pick right now. edit: ian rappaport reported it
