I'm not sure why Eichenberg seems to be so overlooked around here. He's a body mover in the run game and can play guard for a year before kicking out to tackle when Fant leaves or stay at guard if he really excels. I admittedly haven't seen a ton of Jenkins but I think one of these two guys is the pick at 34. Would prefer a trade down as I always do because there are a lot of solid offensive lineman available. I don't really see any defensive player I'd be dying for at 34.
I think Eichenberg is a guard forever and not a tackle. Nothing wrong with that though as Notre Dame has churned out good linemen in recent years
I don't think this will be a popular opinion, but with #34 I want AZEEZ OJULARI - DE - Georgia. Book ended with Lawson could be an amazing combination. RB and WR can wait until later. You can not get anyone close to OJULARI in the 4th round. I would be ok also with any of the following: Elijah Moore WR Devonte Williams RB Asante Samuel Jr. CB Teven Jenkins OT
A note about Teven Jenkins from his NFL.com scouting report (https://www.nfl.com/prospects/teven-jenkins/32004a45-4e43-1338-2486-cd0aff9cba87): "Some scouts voiced concerns about football character" Anybody have any insight?
It's funny. In the past, I've always been deadset against having too many 1st rounders on the OL due to the cap cost, but with the Jets having failed Sam, and now drafted a rookie QB, I want to keep him upright and healthy. I'd be more than fine with adding Jenkins at #34. I don't want JOK at all. What good is a LB who can't tackle? I don't care how fast he is. He'd just miss the tackle earlier in the play. I'd be very happy with a trade back and adding a 3rd round pick, not a 4th. If they can't get a 3rd in a trade back, then stay put and take Jenkins or Elijah Moore. If they can trade back and add a 3rd then either Humphrey or Samuel/Campbell in the 2nd and Brevin Jordan or a WLB in the 3rd.
I still might do the trade back even with a low 3rd, but not a 4th. With the low 3rd, they could add Humphrey in the 2nd, then Brevin Jordan in the 3rd, and have 4 plug and play offensive players.
The Jets have said that they wanted to add a speedy playmaker on offense. What do you think of taking Elijah Moore then trading Crowder? With that added cap space, they could then possibly sign one of Sherman & Nelson.
You're right that it wouldn't be popular with me. DE, FS, and DT are the only positions that shouldn't even be considered this year imo.
