Regarding the trade. It pretty risky considering the guy wasn't a blue chip. At this stage in our build its not wise to give up picks for players. But if he becomes great then who knows?
I love the Vera-Tucker pick, I'd go as far as pick the best C left with our second rounder and that's our O-line fixed.
He better be an All-Pro because he's taking up a lot of upside potential given the price we paid for him. If he's just a good player we got rooked hard and if he busts, well JD is gone in a year or two.
Don’t hate this at a That would have probably cost a lot more. I don’t think Minnesota trades the pick of Slater was on the board. Chicago had to give up a first to get to 11.
At least one level, maybe two. Most of the rest of the OL who could play OG for us will be OTs who move to OG. The next best pure OG is Kendrick Green and he's likely a 3rd round pick.
Yes. There are a few teams including the Vikings and Raiders that will likely go OL. At the end of the day, Douglas felt he was worth two third round picks. Yeah it was worth it
I'm good with it. Maybe they trade back from 34 and pick up a late third rounder. I understand wanting to take as many lottery tickets as possible, but if you think this guy will help your brand new QB, you take the plunge. Still have two 1s and two 2s next year as well Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
The Jets have so many picks of the next few years it made total sense. Remember the Idzik 12? Only so many guys can actually make the team.
With his ability to slide out and play LT as well, it's decent insurance for Becton not being on the field...
Jets could have obtained a comparable player at #23. When you have so many needs, throwing away two 3rd Rounders and getting a 4th makes little sense.
They gave up too much because they moved up too far. I imagine Arizona was taking him because there was no reason to jump New England. Not a big fan of the trade up with a lot of guards and tackles left.
I'm glad to see that Douglas realizes the urgency of upgrading the OL. After last draft I was a little concerned that the only direction he knew how to trade was down. I'm not a big fan of trading up when we need a lot of players, but the OL is such a HUGE need, this was smart.
We have the 34th overall pick tomorrow, multiple picks in multiple rounds on day 3 and two picks in the first and second rounds next year. Spare me the tears over some third rounders.
This is false. Absolutely false. There will not be an OL available at 23 at the same level as AVT. That's not true at all
