Maybe if we pull a Carolina Panthers and run it 50 times. The Raiders run D isn't horrible. They average 4.0 YPC against them. Their run D is ranked that low for the same reason their pass D is ranked that high, everybody just runs on them all day because they don't need to pass.

Sounds nice but reality not happening. Jets aren't going to get 1 guy run for 100 yards and probably won't get 100 yards for the team. Jets aren't running on the Raiders. Raiders will stop the Jets running game and make the jets one dimential have to pass . Show me what you have CHad Pennington.
You do realize that A) the Raiders suck bad, real, real bad and B) the Raiders are allowing 135.1 rushing yards per game. Don't you?

im not saying we should overlook this game by any means, and im positive mangini will have the jets completley prepared for this game, but the raiders defense is not anywhere near as good as the rankings make it seem.they have the number one pass d, but thats because their run defense is 27th i think. same kind of situation with the colts, their ranked number 2 pass defense, but their are 32nd in rush defense because teams do not have to pass alot to beat them. as for raiderjoe, the jets offense has been based on passing to set up the run. and if you saw the minnesota game where we actually did play a dominant run defense, chad threw for a career high 339 yards and the jets won. no matter what the rankings say, i dont think the jets will deviate from their normal gameplan of passing to set up the run. this is how their offense has been most successful and this is a must win game. if houstons back i expect our run game to be more productive than its been, but im not expecting 2 100 yard backs. just please keep barlow off the field.

Yea do you know why? IF a team is turning the ball over at unbelieveable rate and if there defense has way more rushing attempts against them, than obviously their totally yards against the rush is going to be higher More rushing attempts = more rushing yards.(higher total yards giving up) Here is an example for the challeged. some team run defense has 100 attempts against it and surrender 400 yards. NOw some other team run defense has 200 attempts against it,and they gave up 800 Yards. Wow they gave up four hundred more yards. Unbelievable they are twice as bad as the previous team. Also when you consider raiders have played four of the top five rushers in the NFL this season. You give those top running backs 25- 30 carries and they are going to break one. NOw IF Jets had a top RB I might be scaried . Jets Rbs suck and your run defense is worse than raiders. Giving up more yards per carry than raiders. Better chance raiders run on your defense than Jets running on the Raiders defense.
You can make statistics say whatever you want them to. But if you want to suggest that the Raider pass D ranking is simply a result of teams running on them, you're wrong. Teams have run because they have the lead, not because it's easy. And they've run because the pass D is good. The Raiders have given up 4 yards a carry, that ranks 12th in the NFL, a long way from pathetic. The fact of the matter is they've had a lot of plays run against them because the offense averages 72 turnovers for every touchdown they score. The Raider pass D has intercepted 18 passes vs. 16 TDs. KC Joyner of ESPN said this week that they have the best secondary in the league, better than Philly. Rod Woodson said this Raider D is better than the Raider Super Bowl D he played on in 2002. I've already said that I don't think the Jets are going to get two 100 yard rushers, but when Jeaux tries to act condescending to other people (given his absurd posts about the Raiders all year) you shouldn't be surprised when people jump in and call him on it.

i just think its no coincidence that the attempted passes against the raiders is 380 on the season. the league average is around 480ish. thats about 25 passes thrown against the raiders per game, compared to about 32 passes thrown against most other teams, that adds up. i think its easy to see the simple point im trying to make: the less you pass, the less passing yards your going to get. ok, so why dont teams pass against oakland that much? maybe cause they have a great secondary that everyone keeps talking about, the lone bright spot on this team. or maybe its because it actually is easier to run against them. so what do the numbers say? oakland has been rushed against a league high 505 times this season. they also rank 27th in the league in allowing about 135 yds per game. i mean i dont think these are coincidences. im not calling this an easy win or overlooking the game, but the raiders defense is overrated.
