The first thing to notice is we loaded up on WRs. we signed 2 of them so now have a pretty solid top 4. even though 1 was on a 1 year deal he's a WR4 and can be resigned if it works out. I don't think he drafts a WR early. he wasn't loaded at WR when he won in balt or philly either and SF's system doesn't require a stud WR. Seems both JD and saleh prefer a group of solid guys over having superstars.

We also didn't improve the o-line. the starters for 2021 will be the same as 2020. Becton, Lewis, McGovern, GVR, Fant. with the main backups being edoga, clark, and Feeny. I think he'll draft some o-line like he did with becton and build through the draft. He likes mcgovern at C so likely a RT and/or an OG

Outside of that maybe a TE depending on where things fall. RB is 50/50 he did draft perine. we have him ty, coleman, and adams who we resigned. Most of the focus will likely be defensive players to fit salehs scheme and likely back 7 heavy. We also signed a safety and tagged maye and have davis so i'm thinking more CB then safety but probably both. The d-line is really good as it stands. I think JFM and Lawson on the outside with Q and foley on the inside is a really good front 4. we also have depth with zuniga, hall, and shepard. Maybe we take 1 d-lineman tops.

Also after the darnold trade and with the rumors going around I think it's forgone that wilson is the pick at 2

That puts the jets needs at

    Tier 1 needs
    QB, O-line, LBer, DB

    Tier 2
    TE, RB, D-line, WR

Round 1 Pick 2: Zack WIlson QB
    v2 pick zach wilson

nothing changes here between drafts. wilson is the pick for me and it seems for the jets as well.

Round 1 Pick 23: Trade Down

Here is where I think we should trade down for more picks. there is a lot of value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds to be had and by trading down here and maybe even 34 we can stockpile picks in those rounds, then offset them by using later picks to move up when needed. Possible scenerio here Gb could be looking to move up. gives us pick 29 and 92 for pick 23

Round 1 Pick 29: Trade down

We still have the 2nd pick in round 2 and someone will fall. we can move down here again. possible trade miami pick 50 and 81 for pick 29

Now at this point left we have 34, 50, for round 2 and 66, 81, 86, and 92 for round 3. we can also use our 6th rounder and 5th rounders to move up when needed in those rounds

    Round 2

2 players to look at in round 2 are o-line and CB
for o-line wyatt davis or landon dickerson
    for CB asante samuel

    Round 3
we have 4 picks in this round to address o-line, CB, WR, and LBer

    LBer Pete werner, jabril cox,
WR d'wayne eskridge, amon ra st brown if he falls out of the 2nd
    O-line Jalen Mayfield, Walker Little
    CB Tyson campbell, kelvin joseph

    Round 4 Pick 2

this is a flexible spot. we can take someone who fell out of the 3rd or look at a TE like long or jordan or anthony schwartz who is linked to us

    Round 5 Pick 2 James Wiggins S

Round 5 Pick 10 : used for trade up

Round 6 Pick 2 (187OA): Javian Hawkins RB

Round 6 Pick 42 (227OA) used for trade up

We still wind up with 9 picks, but the bulk are in the 2nd and 3rd where there is a lot of value in this draft

It's not an exact pick draft, but more of an idea how we can navigate the draft the maximize filling holes. in this case we can build the o-line and LBer group. add a WR or 2, safety depth, and a CB or 2

Well thought out as always GaC. Here’s the thing it’s so hard to predict a trade down in the middle to late in the first because it all depends on the board at that time. For example if a guy like Horn/Surtain falls to 23 are you still trading back? Probably not because they are atop of their class in a high position of need on the squad. This is why I like to try and predict the board leading up to our pick and go from there. It’s funny I kinda got a gut feeling Asanta Samuel is a guy we could target at 34 if we don’t take one at 23. I like that pick.

While all Tier 2 needs individually. As a collective, I would put "Offensive Weapon" as a Tier 1 need.

Personally, I only trade down if Darrisaw, Jenkins and Vera-Tucker are all off the board at 23.

Also, with the understanding that you can't fill every need with the draft, after pick 66, I'm not forcing anything after that. Let's be honest, most of our "strengths" are strong relative to the rest the roster rather than being a position we're good at.

i would still trade down. as much as i like horn i'm more then ok with samuel and extra picks instead. there is a lot of value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds in this draft and we can fill a lot of holes that way. thankfully today finally begins draft day
