"Often times", i.e. not ALL the time. It is a valid criticism, but let's not go overboard. There's plenty of tape of Wilson going through progressions and going past his first read. That said, he IS going to have to improve - as all the college QBs will have to.

It's pretty clear what your intentions were, but if you want to be dishonest and hide behind it that's cool.

Not every person with epilepsy is a walking seizure waiting to happen based on loud sounds. So if you want to play ignorance to thinking that instead of just being honest that's cool.

I have a friend that's epileptic. It's only certain medicines that triggers seizures.

I hope Zach is studying the Jets playbook more than he is studying endorsement deal contracts. Seems like he is getting a lot of them and fast! Nike, Chipotle, and a bunch of places in Utah.

Same thing is happening with Trevor Lawrence. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you show up on the field and succeed on Sundays.

I don't remember Sam getting all of these endorsement offers, but I am sure he did. Maybe he was just more shy than these other guys.

Yeah, for sure. I personally had no problem with any of that aspect of it. I actually enjoyed the idea that he put up a camera to try and solve the problem, it made me chuckle.

    OCD and secret videos aside,

if Wilson shows up on draft day in a giant fur coat, I might re-evaluate my stance on him.

I'm all in if he brings back the Money Manziel touchdown celebration.

I have such respect for Hodge he’s probably my favourite media guy on player analysis. And he’s 100% correct and I’ve been saying this for a while. Wilson has swagger and skills. If he can get on a roll at the nfl level it could be what we are waiting for.

Merrill Hoge doesn't believe in CTE. That's why he's no longer at ESPN or any mainstream sports media outlet even if they haven't directly said it.

I used to like him a lot before he went on that crusade.

Another assessment that I think is fair and balanced, and it carries some extra weight IMO because Hoge's son played QB at BYU just as ZAch arrived and they were roommates, so Hoge got to know Zach at a level most people didn't. Even though he obviously likes Wilson a lot, he didn't pull any punches with his criticism of Zach in games against tougher opponents. It certainly gives fuel to those who say that Zach's lack of playing against tougher schools is a red flag. I can't dispute that, but like Hoge, given what I've seen of Wilson, I believe he can learn to step up his game to improve on this. And too, the Jets (assuming they do draft him) will make sure that they build a scheme that maximizes Zach's positives and minimizes his negatives, and will no doubt be simpler in the beginning. In short, if the Jets think this isn't a "deal breaker", they're going to draft him.

What is Justin Fields' issues that are holding him back in the draft? I truly don't know. Like I said before, I thought he would be the #2 overall pick to the Jets after they beat the Rams. Then I watched Zach Wilson and I said okay, Wilson is great, but clearly Fields is too. So if the Jets take Wilson, surely he will go #3 to the 49ers.

Now you hear they are deciding between Mac Jones and Trey Lance and Fields could drop into the middle of the First Round? Just doesn't add up to me.

Is it off the field? Can't be epilepsy because he performed fine with it in college.

Or is it truly the case of Jones and Lance are better? I would prefer Fields over both, but maybe I am missing what others see.

I’m not talking about the snowflake politics regarding the media c’mon Vilma I know you don’t buy that BS. We know CTE is real but because a guy digs his heals in to defend the game he loves is I different thing.

I’m talking about him as a guy who analyzes players bottom line and I like the type of player Hodge likes usually

I have a special level of respect for people who sacrifice a pay day to fight for a cause they believe in. Hoge was Orlovsky before Orlovsky with the film breakdowns and did them with the positivity and enthusiasm that Jon Gruden had on Monday Night Football.

He gets knocked down forty rungs on the ladder because he's the idiot that wanted to save a game that didn't need saving. It needs openness to adjusting it to keep these young men a bit safer than they are. That's how you preserve the game. Not deny it.

Probably still a good eye on film though. I don't really watch a lot of these breakdowns by various sources. I generally watch for myself and form my opinions without needing a media head to confirm it. It's more fun that way to be honest.

Especially because there's just so confirmation bias around here (not directed at you) that folks are planting the victory flag of the players success before he's taken an NFL snap.

he's honestly not that impressive of a prospect. not a bad one by any means but nowhere near impressive as people anointed him. I guess it can be recency bias after teams passed up on lamaar jackson and have seen jackson and murray have success but realistically he's a worse prospect then jackson and murray. fans fall in love with athletic freaks. and fields is an athletic freak. but as a QB he's good but not great.

Belichick must be planting stories to make him fall to 15. It makes so much sense now.

Ya I agree I like to decide on prospects for myself on tape and let my eyes tell me what I think. I like to still get other guys takes on players especially guys who have been there and have a good history in evaluating college prospects.

Man, it’s funny because we both know there are going to be 10-15 busts in this first round but we still like 40-50 prospects. You can’t get them all right it’s literally impossible.. a guy like Mahomes who was good in college and made awesome splash plays coming from a air raid offence with a loosing record LOL that never works out tbh but it did and went waaaay past expectations. The draft is so hard, especially now with all the hype trains and coverage

I like him enough I wouldn't want him on the pats. plus that would make me root against him. I want to pull for the kid. hopefully he goes to denver instead at 9. If i'm denver and he's there at 9 i'd have a hard time passing on him.

Why do you guys debate things that are not being debated? @ouchy said Wilson has an issue with that predetermining his throws pre-snap. He didn’t say EVERY time. NOTHING is absolute so of course that means some or often times depending on your flavor. It’s enough times to have caught my attention and that of Warner’s and O’Sullivan. It’s a valid critique that doesn’t need to be twisted into “Wilson cAn’T rEaD dEfEnSeS”.
