Unless you think that Mattingly leaving was WHY the Yankees suddenly became good. Obviously in 1985 Mattingly was one of the best hitters and overall players in baseball but by 1995 he was pretty bad.
Still. You can imagine how he feels. The Yanks play, but lose, the World Series the year before he enters the team, then plays and wins the year after he retires. Owned.
You two have confused me. I think TommyGreen originally had it right because Donnie Loser played in the 1995 postseason. He retired shortly thereafter and the Yankess (not a typo) won the World Series the following year.
If the jets win the super bowl? You mean WHEN the jets win the super bowl! Yeah and that would suck for vinny. He comes back to the pats only for a ring, and then his former team goes out and wins it all.
As much as I dislike the Pats, if the Jets dont represent the AFC in the SB (they still have to qualify obviously) I wouldnt mind seeing Vinny win a ring. He's all class...a lot like Rocky Balboa.
He has class, is a New Yorker, and almost single-handedly turned this franchise around in '98. The big downside? Two word. Color. Blind.
Jets beat the Pats before......I don't think the Patsies(as much as anyone here would like) will lose two in a row to them.... Personally, I really don't see a SB-Title in the immediate future for the Jets.....Could the Jets turn into the Steelers? Maybe but then again ANY TEAM can do that if they catch fire and some lucky breaks along the way.... What I'd like to see is Vinny finally getting his ring, leave the Pats, and then Jets win the SuperBowl next year....and the year after.....and the year after....
