I wish he provided a source but if we’re taking it as fact, that is alarming. The eye test says he holds the ball too long but I didn’t think it was that much of an issue. Clearly it is.
So he runs more often and that automatically means he takes his eyes off the receivers in looking to do so? Or he's a superior athlete to the other three and can take off and run a bit easier because of it? I know you love PFF - remember the stat about how Fields is the best QB after his first read? I imagine that's not because he's taking off and running all the time. A 9% difference of roughly 84 pressures is 7 more scrambling runs. That's hardly damning to support what you claim.
My claim was that he runs more often under pressure than the other prospects. You said it wasn't true. It is true.
No, that was not your claim. Your comment was merely about his play style, not as it relates to other prospects. Regardless, your secondary big difference against the top four referenced is 7 or so plays. Taking into considering his superior athleticism to the other three, this is just another case of misleading PFF statistics that get overanalyzed.
Another decorated coach thinks Zach is a "great player". Compares to Rogers (no it does not mean Zach is actually Rogers clone). Brings up level of competition, multiple years of production, labrum surgery, but concludes he would be an "amazing fit" with 49er system, 49ers will definitely take him if he slides, and he can take the team to SB.
When I watch Fields play, I think he doesn’t run enough. But then again, I’m handicapped in that I’m blind. So take it for what it’s worth.
Cool article on Jets soon to be pick, with quite a few insights. It looks like he is in a committed relationship already, perhaps we will not need to worry about Watson like massages.
I was too kind to him out of respect to his dad. Still, this is a multi year NFL and College head coach, who likes what he sees. And this seems to be the pattern with Zach: actual GMs (according to survey), and other football people seem to like him a lot for the most part, which is the reason for "hype" and #2 draft projections. The bust projections are typically from media talking heads and message board posters.
He has the most time to pressure, most time to throw but has the highest sack rate on top of the highest scramble rate. That means he’s not making quick decisions and instead of making one, he’s taking off. I get that he has the speed to pull it off but it certainly doesn’t help the notion that he’s not going to be able to process the field on a pro level.
All this tells me is that if Zach doesn’t pan out he’ll still have a lot of fans like Darnold does. That’s good for Zach. Happy for him.
I was just being generous. I had just watched the game, there was a moment In the second quarter where I felt he was forcing things a bit. Only drive I felt like that though, and, It wasn't anything serious. Just nitpicking. Justin Fields played well against a team that was just simply better all the way around. Still. 2nd quarter, 21-14 Bama... In the Redzone. I felt he was forcing things In that moment that he normally would've played differently I think. The injury could've played Into too, It just felt like he was forcing things.
Question. Is It really a factual conclusion because PFF says-it-so? Serious question. Do people believe that PFF Is accurate In all things and because they come up with these statistics, they are 100% accurate?
I can't speak for anyone else, but for me, I take stats as only one part of the picture, and I take them with a grain of salt. They can show trends, they can provide context, but they can also be used to distort. You really have to know more about the situations that they were gathered from - the make up of the team around the guy, the teams he played, the specifics of those games (weather, home, away, injuries...), the coaching and play calling and scheme used. You can't just take raw stats and draw conclusions. There's a reason that Mark twain said: "There are three kinds of lies: Lies; damnable lies, and statistics".
Because he holds the ball too long and runs too much rather than passes. C'mon, you know good and well why it's damning. Quit trolling. You're better than that.
