it's basically like a trial. everyone can find their own set of "experts" to back up whatever they are claiming, kinda like the way people can always cherry pick data to support an argument.

legler, if JD goes OL with the two pics we have after he drafts Zach at 2, our OL can improve significantly from last year.

He still put the roster together did he not? Even with a better coach and that roster (including zero pass rushers, horrible guard play and weak receivers), do you think we had a roster good enough to win a significant amount of games?

you didn't ask. thats the funny part. you could have said look at the last 3 mins instead and let me know what you think.

either way I did after your comment and i seen 1 good throw. not enough to even remotely put him close to zach. and he's missing a lot on film zach has it's not just ball placement he brings to the table. There is a reason he was a 7th rounder and zack is going 2nd overall. with that said, it would make a lot more sense to point out what you like about your guy other then what you don't like about the other guy. it's like you and some fields supporters seem hell bent on why we shouldn't draft wilson instead of why we should draft fields. unless you think they both suck and fields is the lesser of 2 evils in which case you should be angry we didn't just keep sam

I don’t need @Brook! to prevent me from name calling. Like he said I’m going to continue to be me he should too if that’s who he is. I don’t want all that quality content bottled up. Let the man be free. #Freebicketybam

That’s a lot of faith on rookie linemen.

I NEVER thought Maccagnan had us on the right path. For his first two years I did try to cut him some slack, but I could tell from his drafts and FA signings that he was in over his head. Year 3 I called for him to be fired and was told here I was being too hasty. Douglas has given me a completely different impression, much of that having to do with his actual experience in successful orgs and being involved in personnel decisions at some level before he got here. And so far, while he hasn't been perfect, I think he's done the best job since at least Parcells. He also seems to have a "blueprint", and while I don't know exactly what that is, he appears to be following it, which I also think is the mark of a good GM and franchise. But if he doesn't nail this draft, and also get the QB question right, I'll be leaning towards looking for his replacement - or more likely, just become disinterested.

I think it was a tank job for Trevor Lawrence that got botched. I’m not mad at it.

We should have won 4 games (Raiders and Pats). With a different head coach and a serviceable QB, 6 wins wasn't out of the question and that was during the first year of a rebuild. How many drafts did he have?

If you can't figure out that this means "hey watch the rest" then I don't know what to tell you. I figured it was pretty obvious but I guess not.

Maybe that was somewhat by design?

This draft will probably tell us most of what we need to know about JD and his competence. Specifically what he does with the 23rd and 34th picks. If he goes offense at one or both of those picks I'll feel alright. I honestly think it has to be offense at both of them, though. I'll be a little disappointed if we go defense at either pick. We can get CB help next year, protecting the new QB has to be paramount.

lol, I know we haven't agreed on much recently, JonathanVilma, but you are 100% SPOT ON with this post on both counts. What limited success Trubisly had in 2018 was largely due to the fact that Nagy's gadget-heavy offense had the rest of the league SOMEWHAT off-balance for maybe the first half of the season, which always makes things easier for any qb with a limited skill-set...but by the 2nd half of that season, the rest of the league pretty much caught on to Nagy and all of his BS gadget playcalls, and Trubisky began to get exposed for what he is...a limited QB with confidence issues, who simply does not have the ability to process the game mentally.

I understand and agree with your general point, legler, but unfortunately for Chicago, missing on Trubisky represents a HUGE OPPORTUNITY COST from which they can not quickly recover or try again in short order...not only bc they passed up on Mahomes AND Watson to select Trubisky, but because they blew a #2 pick on him...and they are unlikely to be in such a prime position to select an elite QB for awhile. Top 2-3 picks are precious....they are hard to come by for even the worst franchises....you can't just piss them away, which is what Chicago did when they selected Trubisky.

Indeed it comes down to that. Both Kurts watched the tape of prospects and studied it in detail. One thinks Zach is special and #2 QB in the draft with Mahomes like qualities, and the other says a sure bust. Only one can be right. My money is on the NFL QB SB Champ and MVP, with all due respect to Kurt the Jets Fan.
