I remember and I still agree with Bill Tobin. Who the fuck is Mel Kiper?

Yes, I think so. It may not be quite at Mahomes or Allen level, but it's in the upper echelon IMO (FWIW).

@patleahy Hopefully Joe Douglas contacted Tobin's mail man to see how he ranks the QB's in the 2021 NFL Draft. He may give the Jets a scoop!

that's cool. I trust JD more then kiper though.

kiper also said the same of jamarcus russel, ryan leaf, akili smith, jimmy clauson, johhny manziel, andre ware,

he seems to have a MO with QBs. only looks at the measurables and loves big and fast and cocky people. Wilson isn't big or fast and he's humble. wilson has the perfect JD like persona, kiper doens't factor in team fit or lockerroom fit or culture either

Ok so I thought we were trying to only value the opinion of guys who have a good track record of analyzing quarterbacks, right?

Let's take a look at some of what Warner has said.

    https://www.azcardinals.com/video/kurt-warner-s-top-5-qb-prospects-12938988
    1. Johnny Manziel
    2. Teddy Bridgewater
    3. Blake Bortles
    4. Derek Carr
    5. Zach Mettenberger

    Josh Rosen - lowest risk

Trubisky at the top of the list based on checking all the boxes.

I'll try to find some more. These are a pain in the ass to try to find.

I don't think you need to find any more, Jonathan. I think you have already made your point.

Another great analysis by Warner. The tendency that Wilson showed in going with his #1 target is concerning, but also something that can be fixed. Kudos to Kurt for seeing this and pointing it out. But since he had a lot of other plays where he didn't "lock on", I wonder how often he does this, and what causes him to do it?

In any case, fair and balanced review.

The part about Trubisky being at the top of the class because he checks all the boxes?

Wrong. I explained why I value Warner's (and the other former pro QB's) opinion. It's not because I think they're right in predicting success - although I trust their ability to predict more than most - but because they point out and explain things so I can see them and make my own judgement.

Its a week before draft and analysts are in their superhero mode. Nobody knows for sure which non TL QB will be the stud. All we can do is evaluate risk and try not to rush into something. But IMO we aren't doing a great job of that. Instead we are in a big rush and gunning for high risk.
    Yikes.

it's almost as if nobody can predict these correctly. so best we can do is trust in JD and hope for the best

By "we" who do you mean? "WE" here on TGG or Joe Douglas & Co. ? Because the only one who HAS to do a good job is JD.

    Ok?

Got it. So sometimes we value the track record and sometimes we do not. I just want to make sure I can keep up.
