Islanders close to selling out inaugural season at UBS Arena (news12.com) See what happens when you have a good team? Ticket sales doing extremely well in Belmont.
True but its nice to see the demand for Isles tickets becoming a hot item again. They have come a long way from the days of Milbury, Snow, Weight, Wang etc etc etc. Just the Isles luck Tukkaa Rask is back in goal for Boston tonight. Hopefully the Isles can get the 2 points tonight. Need to keep pace with the Caps and Pens.
If this is the new-and-improved post-trade deadline Islanders, they will be getting eliminated in the first round. They had a decent first period, gave up an awful goal at the end of that period, and didn't bother showing up for the second and third periods.
I thought they played well in the third but it's always the same problem with them.. they just can't score.
Bringing in veteran players is ok when you have a couple of elite offensive players and need some veterans to stabilize the team while the elite players are the difference makers. Think of Pittsburg when they brought in Billy Guerin and other veterans to help Sidney and Malkin. Other than Barzal Islanders still don’t have elite offensive players. This formula is simply not going to accomplish anything offensively for Islanders.
Take a look at the stats for the Isles in their last 9 games. 6-3 record. 2 wins in a SO and 2 wins in OT. Outscored 17-11 overall. Still 11 goals in their last 9 games and they found a way to win 6 of them Big game tomorrow night against NYR. Win that one and they are in good shape up 10 points on them. Lose and the Rangers pull within 6 of the Isles.
What a great win. That was just the warm up round. The next three games are the real battle all against the Caps. LGI
am points games remaining points to clinch WASH 62 10 11 NYI 62 10 11 PITT 61 10 12 BB 58 12 15 Max Points NYR 52 10 72 Magic number right now is 11 points gained or lost by the Isles/Rangers clinches a playoff spot.
First of 3 straight vs the Caps. Tonight and Saturday at Nassau and then Tuesday in Washington. These could very well decide the division although the Pens and B's are in the mix. LGI...
Problem is Capitals are a replica of Islanders now, but have more offense. All things being equal the team with the offensive advantage will win.
In keeping with what @Red Menace said, it's 0-0 through to a shootout, where the Islanders lose. I know that the Isles don't have enough offensive talent, but what I object to is the sloppiness in center ice and the offensive zone, killing chances for scoring before they even start. Isn't there anyone on the coaching staff who knows how to diagram up breakout plays from the defensive zone and set plays in the offensive zone?
Tough to lose 1-0 in a SO but they picked up a point. The Rangers lose in regulation. Shave 3 points off the magic number to clinch. It went from 11 to 8. The Rangers have 52 points and only 9 games left. The most they can get is 70. They Isles have 63. Sucks the Pens and B's won but considering who they were playing that was to be expected.
