Probably think Lance is gone at 3.

  2. Its not fair to not label them as red flags. Its definitive red flag. These are GM 10 commandment level stuff. Yes these things often get vetted but still end up beccomming an issue. And do they really get vetted or do they just get pushed to the side? Simetimes that gets fuzzy behind the scenes. See:Raiders/Jamarcus Rurrell blank tape incident.

Could they all end up being non factors?sure. But its exceptionally rare to have all these specific “concerns” & to overcome every one of them esp when realists acknowledge hes more refined skilll than elite physical upside.

Also you’re assuming hes gonna be “great” those first couple years.I merely said good enough to play. This will still be a rebuilding team & folks are already looking to ignore skill.

Ill assume we’ fundamentally disagree which is fine..

The major concern I'd have with Fields and a neurological disorder is the potential for exacerbation via future head trauma. I just did a quick google search, which is difficult with this because there is a correlation between concussions and epilepsy, but the reverse direction we're seeking to get information on with Fields - people who have a head injury and then develop an issue with seizures.

At a quick glance, one of the first pieces I found on the direction we're seeking (Epilepsy --> concussion) was this article from 2004:

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15376487/

Oh, I don't like the 2nd part of your example, Trask does nothing for me tbh (Tebow killed the Gators QB's lol), Jones failed to impress in shorts twice which makes me nervous as well.

Pitts is an absolute beast though, is there no other QB we could take, I liked Lance but not to start right away but with no back up secured it looks likely we are starting the QB selection this season.

I liked Davis and I know it is just silly draft games but I noticed he is a lot higher up the draft board than when I first mentioned him on here, projecting at 98 on that PFN draft game, he was a 7th rounder in the other draft game tool but again he was a project QB.

edit no doubt Trask will be Brady 2.0 :(

The BYU reporter on the Cool Your Jets pod I posted earlier said expect a lot of INTs in the first few years. He said he’s going to figure out what he can “get away” with at the next level. That’s not very Mahomes/Rodgers like. Folks are expecting an off platform Lollapalooza.

I find drawing gif's in real life takes a lot of the heat of the moment out of it tbh.

No, I'm not assuming he'll be great for 2-3 years, just saying that IF he is - despite the "red flags" - that in itself is a massive improvement over what we've had for decades.

I think it's fair to point out that Joe Namath injured his knee and had to have surgery while at Alabama, and he had gotten a DUI which caused him to be suspended in his Jr. year, and it didn't prevent the Jets taking him as their 1st pick, and the St. Louis Cardinals taking him in the NFL draft with their #12 pick. I know you've that in your opinion Wilson doesn't possess enough "elite" qualities to overlook this and other "red flags" he has, but clearly there is precedent for teams rolling the dice if they believe the talent outweighs the risk, so if the Jets take Wilson they obviously believe the reward is worth the risk.

And yes, your last assumption is is correct, which is fine with me also.

If they didn't clear it with Fields and they have professional responsibility in some way for him it's a HIPAA violation.

I believe professional responsibility in this case would extend to coaches and administrators in the sports program although not to other players.

His "learning curve" will be lengthened - and more painful - if he has to start right away. I think if Mahomes hadn't been allowed to sit and learn for almost the whole year he would've suffered those "growth pains" too. This is why I hope the Jets sign someone to fill that "Alex Smith Role".

In any case, if the Jets stick with him and give him the protection and weapons, he'll grow out of it.

Rodgers had 3 years before he hit the field. Mahomes had most of a season. Both had QB whisperers in their ear all the time telling them what they had to do to get on the field.

If Trask is somebody 2.0 it will be on the Roethlisberger/Flacco/Dilfer spectrum. He's more likely just to be Trask 1.0.

Confirmed suggests somebody else let it out first.

I’m sorry but when I watched Mahomes at Texas Tech, I just didn’t see as many potential NFL turnover type balls, no where close. You should remember me fighting to the nail with folks on here that claimed he won’t be able to “get away” with those type throws in the NFL. Now with Wilson, I’m on the other side of that argument.

Furthermore, the Mahomes sitting narrative is a bit overblown. Reports throughout that first year was that KC was absolutely giddy with excitement to unleash Mahomes against the NFL based on what he was doing with the scout team. They thought they knew what they had when they drafted him but immediately realized once he got on the practice field he was much more prepared to play right away than they originally thought.

They also weren’t the 2nd overall pick either. Doesn’t that suggest Wilson is further along and more ready than they were?

Yes because the offensive chip at 2 could be a bust, Jones being available at 23 isn't happening in this universe, and there hasn't been a Trask-like QB who's succeeded in the NFL in over a decade.
