"QB Fields - Ohio State QB Justin Fields has reportedly told teams that he has a epileptic condition that he is managing. Epilepsy is a neurological condition can cause seizures and is usually treated with medication, although different cases can call for different medical approaches. Not the kind of news Fields wanted to have to pass on to NFL teams as he tries to establish himself as a top 5-10 QB prospect."
While it can be controlled with meds, it can't be cured, and episodes can still happen. How often have they happened for Fields? Has he missed any games because of it? Some team that has the balls - Patriots? - is going to get lucky and have Fields fall into their laps.
Or Denver is sitting there licking their chops at 9. No need to trade up if Fields is going to keep falling.
I mean if it's something he's been dealing with the whole time, and it's never impacted a game and no one has ever noticed it.... it's probably totally manageable and not a concern.
It's manageable! We can only applaud a guy who the guts to play a contact sport How many head injuries result in seizures and go unreported Heh..maybe he has them after game over who knows
For a guy that takes sacks as much as he does, it's definitely concerning. Football is a violent sport and hits to the head happen, especially with a guy that has the ability to run when he doesn't see anyone open. Major flag.
It’s a manageable condition, but it is a concern. His stock might take a hit since this came out. I still think he’s going to be a good QB, but this coming out a week before the draft? Sheesh.
Yeah, Denver would be a good fit since they have a starting QB already, and don't need to rely completely on Fields.
My best friend has epilepsy and still plays hockey. However, he felt he had grown out of it and his Dr weaned him off the meds and a few months later he had an episode on the highway. Nobody got hurt as he drifted off to the shoulder but it could of been a disaster. From my experience it won’t effect Fields on the field with meds.
On the NFL Network yesterday, they said it has not impacted his ability to play football. They also said they expect him to outgrow the condition as some members of his family have. Also they had a panel of four guys talking about the draft, I forget all the names but they are all regular contributors. Two of them had Fields rated as the 2nd best QB prospect.
