I found this article regarding Wilson and his shoulder injury, NCJetsFan. It was published in Feb. 2019 after Wilson had his surgery, ahead of the 2019 BYU season.

    https://www.vanquishthefoe.com/2019...recovering-after-shoulder-surgery-spring-ball

The shoulder problem is not new. Wilson says it’s something that has been a issue since high school and he wanted to take care of it before the upcoming season. Wilson said he’s been rehabbing his shoulder every day and he plans to train with John Beck in California, referring to his next steps and the recovery process.

He compared his injury to the likes of Drew Brees, but said that his “wasn’t nearly as bad,” which is good, because Brees suffered a 360 degree tear of his labrum and a 50 percent tear of his rotator cuff. It does give us a frame of reference for Wilson’s injury.

for the record, rosen was considered the safest. low floor but low ceiling. practically can't bust but won't make a pro bowl. he turned out to be the worst QB in the draft

You are right, that's too much. We need to draft Penei and start building around Morgan.

I’m guessing this evaluation did not take into account the douche factor.

it was written off as being competitive and driven and smart. to be fair peyton manning was a douche too in the same vein as rosen and it worked fine for manning obviously. you can be a douche when you actually are good because people respect it. you can't be a douche when you suck

I remember watching the Sugar Bowl and being really excited watching Justin Fields. I assumed he would be the pick at #2. How could he not, after that amazing performance? It was all of the qualities the Jets have been missing at QB in recent years.

Then I watched more and more of Zach Wilson, and saw his potential and capabilities too. I trust Joe Douglas and his staff, so I would be happy with either one. I completely understand the Justin Fields fans though. He could definitely be a star in the NFL.

Like I told you before, I don't get the Zach Wilson hate as much, but I completely get the support of Fields and being upset if he is not picked by the Jets.

So Joe thought the process leading up to drafting Flacco was awesome. My question is, what process? Everyone in 2008 knew there were 2 QBs that draft that were way ahead of the rest. Atlanta took Ryan 15 picks before Baltimore was on the clock, and so they took Flacco. That is not some big process, that is taking what was left.

What the article doesn't mention is why they suddenly decided to rush into a QB when the 2nd pick was literal team building gold this draft. Or how they seem to rate Wilson above Fields, or what makes them think Wilson is worth passing up the swaps.

If we all accept the pick now then what will we talk about for the next week. The #2 is out most valuable pick since 1996.

Is anyone else still holding out hope that there is some last minute bonanza trade with Denver?

I don't hate Wilson. There is just no way we can justify him with the second pick and IMO that is not even debatable. He carries way too many bust flags to warrant what we are giving up.

Could you please supply links to the bold? This is the first I've heard of this. Aside from that, he missed 4 weeks due to the hand injury in 2019, unless you have other evidence to the contrary.

Yes, Fields could be a star in the NFL, but so could Wilson. That, and all their whining and negative posts is where I part company with the Fields fans. I'm so sick of their crap, that if the Jets don't draft Fields, I hope he busts just to shut them up once and for all.

Dislike, disapproval of the pick, doubt he will be a success or whatever you want to say. I just see it more as a gamble. He could be the next star QB in the NFL or he could get injured and not work out. I'm surprised at the people who just assume he will be a bust. Like I said, the Fields fans and supporters, I get being upset if the Jets go in another direction, I just don't think Wilson is a bad direction to go.

Yeah, that is fair to say. You've been strong on that all off-season. As for a trade with Denver, I would say that is highly unlikely now since they moved Sam. QB has to be the pick at #2.

This is old news Brook. This article was been discussed quite a bit two weeks ago. The article stated that Jets FO clearly felt there were only two QBs worth drafting Lawrence and presumably Wilson and if the meds did not work out on one of those two then they would go with Darnold. It did not stop the anti-Wilson crowd (or one paricular trolll who has been spamming this board with essentially the same post 50-100 times everyday for the last two months) rather it just sent them into a posting frenzy of denial.

None of those opinions of Wilson is hate. They are just opinions. Wilson hasn’t done anything to anyone.

:D No, I hope he succeeds. I agree about the whining, and negative posts though. It has been disappointing to see. Like I just wrote: I get the Fields support. That is fine. I feel fans should support Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, and Mike LaFleur too.

If they feel Wilson is the perfect fit for their system and franchise, then that's it. Support it. I wouldn't want it any other way. I would hate for them to think "Well, Wilson is the perfect fit for us, but Fields has been the #2 guy behind Lawrence for years, and should be the pick at #2. Mel Kiper says he is the second best QB. Let's just do that!" That would be awful. So I think fans should support the Jets' process and decision making.

History is on the side of the Teams choosing QBs from Clemson (D Watkins) and BYU (Steve Young Super Bowl QB) to be successful in NFL

The other schools OSU NDSU are iffy including Alabama..(I mean JWN was like 60 yers ago?? ahha)....plus Tua at Miami is really unknown atm

    And there you have it:rolleyes:
