I don’t wish Darnold any bad karma. From the moment he got here he has been a class act. This organization did nothing to help him develop. If anything they had a blueprint as to what Gase would do to him. I do think that he will do quite well in Carolina. We shall see in the end who made out .
no. why would we want someone to fail who did everything right and was screwed over by shitty ownership. and never made a peep or complained. I hope wilson works out but i'd be happy for sam to see him turn things around
Nah, seemed like a good dude and never bitched or threw a single person under the bus, in spite of the complete shit show that he was put in. Wish him good health and hope he turns is career around...
I hope he (or Teddy Bridgewater, or whoever) leads the Panthers to an 0-17 record, so the draft pick the Jets got is number 33 overall. I hope the Jets have a wildly successful year. If both of those things happen, it will confirm everything that Joe Douglas has done, which should be what every Jets fan hopes for in general. It seems unlikely that the first part of that is going to happen if Darnold plays well, so sure, I hope he doesn't - because I couldn't care less one way or the other about him at a personal level.
plain and simple, so we get a higher pick. I hope he has a career myself, I think we fucked him over good and proper.
things will happen as they happen whether we root for them to happen or not. us rooting for someone to fail who doesn't deserve it is just wrong. I'll root for him, if he succedds i'll be happy, if not at least our pick is better. it's win, win
Hell no! If there is such a thing as karma. he'll win a SB in just compensation for the screwing over he got from the Jets.
He also suffered 2 years of Douglas not even attempting to improve his surrounding coaching, talent, or mentor options. The Jets did him very dirty. That’s on the Jets, not Darnold.
Douglas had one off-season with Darnold and he had no control over the coaching staff I’d say spending first and second round picks on offense was attempting to improve the talent we’ll see if Sam is any good going forward
Worse Darnold performs the worse his team is. The worse his team is the better the picks we get next year. I want him to start all season and I want him to fail. It’s nothing personal.
He was with Gase 2 full years, and supported him entirely, including moving anyone who didn't get along with Gase, while signing has beens like Gore. If he saw value in Darnold, he would've and should've petitioned ownership for an immediate change (like Gase did to Mac). Instead he kept supporting Gase while the 2020 ship, and Darnold, sunk further every week. The draft is about the future, not the present. His FA last offseason was tragically bad, and a huge reason for the 2020 debacle. He took a bad offensive roster, and made it worse. That's just a fact. And adding a 'mentor' like Flacco? just terrible. People love holding Gase accountable (rightfully so), but bend over backwards to disassociate Douglas for that 2020 debacle. I still have hopes for him as a GM, but it's ok to criticize for the worst season I ever saw. Dealing Darnold so his new draft pick won't have any competition was also a weak move imo. If Darnold does well in Carolina, Douglas absolutely deserves the blowback. That said if the new draft pick does great, it's a moot point.
