I can't be the only one that is rooting for Darnold to keep throwing awful picks and be just as bad for them as he was here. Maybe it's the bitter 30+yr jets fan in me, but I want Joe Douglas to be on the right side of this trade. I don't want whomever we pick to be good and Darnold to be good and both sides are happy. Fuck that. I want to look back at that trade and have it be goddamn lopsided with whomever the jets draft being head and shoulders better than Darnold of the past 3 years AND better than Darnold moving forward.
What darnold does from here on out means nothing. What draft pick #2 in the 2021 draft is the only thing that matters.
I hope he does well, I feel like the Jets did him dirty in a lot of ways and he's a nice guy that never had a bad thing to say about the Jets or Jets fans even now, and always put the blame on himself. There is a scenario that can play out where both sides win. Rooting for the guy to fail just because he didn't do well here is kind of like hoping your ex girlfriend gets fat and starts dating bikers.
F that. Jets couldnt have done worse by the guy & the fans gave up on him in favor of a flavor of the month. If he finds success he should twist the knife..slowly.
Sorry. No. I hope he finds success. The guy has been nothing but a class act. He was dealt a bad hand and it didn't work out here.
I think that all you have to do to earn that these days is start a full season and barely miss the playoffs.
Best outcome for all parties is if he plays moderately better in Carolina but doesn't blow anyone away. That way Sam and his supporters can say we were holding him back and Jets fans won't feel too bad about what might've been had we kept him.
I'll be rooting for the kid every game he's not playing against the Jets. I do the same for just about every other former Jet. The exceptions are guys that did something to show they were shitty people --and Brian Winters. I have despised Brian Winters far beyond what he deserves since his 3rd season. I just have, and do, and will continue.
If Darnold had gone to New England I would have my voodoo doll ready. With him safely in the NFC I can only wish him the best. We gave up to much to get him only to pull the plug too early. Hard to fault Sam for anything that happened here. He has a great attitude, did his best, and threw no one under the bus.
This! The better Darnold does in Carolina the harder it will for Gase to ever get another job. Although the worse Darnold does the better our draft pick will be. But I could live with a late 2nd in 2022. Darnold seems like a good kid who works hard. He deserves a break and some success.
Winters was overrated & anointed by the staff extremely early on in his rookie year when he needed to earn it.He was & is a talented guy.But he had holes in his game to work out. I was at Cortland for his rookie camp. They made him starting guard almost immediately & he was never performming up to that standard.Rex called him a 10 year starter & thrust all kinds of hype. Yes he was athletic & tough but never learned proper anchor in pass pro & it haunted him his entire time here.
