Disclaimer; I'm a lifelong Bills' fan Whoever the Jets draft they need to be given the time and support needed to find their game. There are some QBs who are on fire from their first NFL snap, but most take some time. Herbert had a great rookie season but he stepped onto a deep roster with a lot of surrounding talent. Allen didn't walk onto a talented roster but the Bills' front office gave Allen time and continued to put the pieces around him to allow him to grow. Here are his passer ratings since he arrived in Buffalo. Allen: 2018 Games 1-6 -- 61.8 rating 2018 Games 7-12 -- 72.6 rating 2019 Games 13-20 -- 82.9 rating 2019 Games 21-27 -- 88.8 rating 2020 Games 29-36 -- 102.4 rating 2020 Games 40-46 -- 111.6 rating 2021 ??? The Jets have the cap space and Draft ammo to surround whoever the new QB is with talent. Unlike Mccagnan, I think JD knows what he's doing. The Jets' roster will be young and will take some time to grow along with their new QB. Gang Green just needs to be patient and give whoever they draft time to evolve. It took Allen three seasons to get there.
People react to what people type, if you accuse somebody of a foul tirade they are gonna be a bit fucked off pissed off well miffed you know. The humour or quip was the fact the DUI hasn't been given as a red flag but his blown pro day will have affected him way more ( just leave it at that, I understand you don't think it matters but we both know we'd be pissed off if they said and with the 2nd pick the Jets select Mac Jones )
To me, keeping Sam and passing up on all of the potential franchise QB's was the very obvious SOJ move. Then he would continue to struggle while the rookies play great in the NFL. Douglas did not do that. He is taking a risk and starting fresh across the board in 2021 and I like it a lot. And like I said before, Wilson is valued across the NFL. Not just at One Jets Drive. If the Jets like him the most for them, he should be the pick, and that seems to be the case.
"Wow!! Best ball I have ever caught in my 10 years in the league. This kid has it. He'll play 15 years. ... I fell in love with him when he pulled me to the side and asked to sit in on my film session, so he could pick my brain. He gets it. WRs will run through a brick wall for him. ... 100 steps ahead of Jay Cutler when we started in 2006. The kid is a star!! Now let's wait and see."
For me, it's a double whammy. I preferred to stay with Darnold. Okay that didn't happen, so I would prefer Fields over Wilson, but I respect that a new coach has the right to have at QB the guy he thinks will best execute his vision. Therefore if the pick is Wilson, I will support it wholeheartedly. I recall when the Jets signed Favre, I thought it was the dumbest move ever. However, watching him play as a Jet, gave me a feeling of immense euphoria (at least for the first half of the season.) Finally, someone who could play the position and wreak havoc on the opposition. Nevertheless, I still think it was a bad move, but after all is said and done, I will support anyone who puts on the Jets uniform.
JT's review of Fields in National Championship. I thought back then it was a good game for him, even if stats were not perfect, though many disagreed. JT did a good job breaking it down. Not unlike Zach's performance against Coastal.
