Eh, not like Hicks is exactly tearing the cover off the ball though.

Judge gets the night off for maintenance or "general wear and tear." What a joke. Between him and Stanton these two guys are the biggest babies in the league.

Stanton DH's yet he missed months at a time from what always seems to be a calf strain. A calf strain? He can't swing a fucking bat?

I know injuries are real and whatever but sometimes it's too much. Players didn't break down like this even in the 2000's when I first started watching sports. I could imagine what you guys who watches in the 70's and on think of this

They're milking this in some sports to a certain extent IMO.

I look forward to the experiment of him hitting 3rd ending.

Hes not a 3 hitter and no one will ever convince me he should be there just because he's a lefty.

He's not a hitter period, he should retire, some guys don't know when to quit

I'm not sure if every team does it because I only follow the Yankees closely on a daily basis but I feel like they have over analyzed the right/lefty thing for the better portion of the past decade+ since Torre retired.

I like Hicks. Good defender and works walks. He's literally perfect for the 2 hole and I can't remember them ever putting him that. Sandwich him in between Lemahieu and the strikeout kings behind him and he'll actually see a fast ball every once in a while to hit.

I know they need to breakup the K brothers in some fashion, but Judge needs to be out of the 2 hole. He's a premium player. Even if you want to put Gleyber in the 3/4 spot.

Judge played 5 games and had 22 at bats and is out with general soreness....he'd never make it in the NHL

    So does Torres.

I know its early, but they strike out way too much and their BA is terrible. I know BA isn't that important, but you can't hit .200 as a team. Is this really going to change much?

I think this will change, but they hit way too many grounders too. I think they are tied for mlb lead in double plays.

I really have a hard time seeing WS contender with this team.

Side note: Cubs are hitting .167 as a team.

I want to say this is at least the 4th game in a row Yankees had 1 hit or less after the 4th.

Cashman has been living off 2009 for 12 years now....poorly constructed team with a terrible starting staff that is injury prone....Coles vs the World!

Actually, Cashman has been living off the teams of 1998-2001, which were built by his predecessors. Once the mainstays of those years left (e.g., Cone, Tino, O'Neill, Brosius etc) and Cashman had to replace them, things went downhill: two World Series appearances ('03 and '09) and one championship ('09). He builds teams that usually do well during the regular season but fold in the post-season. He survives because (1) Hal seems to be satisfied as long as the team reaches the post-season; and (2) the media treats Cashman like some kind of genius. .
