Luck Manning and Lawrence all ahead of Mahomes.. actually there is a long list ahead of Mahomes coming out. That’s why he went 10th overall. TBH he’s the only air raid offence QB that has truly worked out.

Note that I didn't say Wilson was better than, or even as good as, simply that he reminds me of those guys. If everything works out and he achieves his potential, he could be in that general realm IMO. The odds are against that, but still, if he gets within 75% of those guys he'll be damn good - probably the best NY Jet since Namath.

IDK if you saw Elway when he came out, he made a lot of mistakes, and was even benched his first year. And it wasn't until Shanahan got that great OL and running game going that Elway really got good. If Douglas and Saleh can emulate that recipe I expect good things.

Yes, Manning, Luck, both rated higher by the "experts", but only Manning is on a par with Mahomes's ability IMO. And frankly, if Manning, Luck, and Lawrence came out in 2017, I'd take Mahomes over all of them.

So after Mahomes, Mayfield, and Murray the Dinosaurs still complaining about Air Raid?!

Mahomes throws 50 TDs first year starter.

Mayfield sets rookie QB record for TD passes.

Murray wins rookie of the year.

    Just..
    Stop.

Well. John Elway was to be drafted first and he also won a SB. He just didn’t want to go to the Colts so he took a detour but still counts in my book. Non the less, the point that is a crap shoot is well taken but is also an indication that is more about good teams making good QBs great, and bad teams not able to help good QBs succeed. Also it makes you wonder how the GMs evaluate QBs. They might need to develop new approaches.

May be so, but It’s not just the QB but the team that gets him. I think Luck was the absolute real deal, he just went to a shit team to get destroyed. If he was in NE or KC he still be playing with a SB under his belt. Meantime Mahomes, as great as he is, would have been scrambling for his life under Gase and the Jets. It takes both elements to make it to the promised land.

Of course, but I still take Mahomes over all those other guys. If nothing else, the fact that he's ambidextrous puts him over the top.:)

Eli Manning too. So if Schaap isn't either really careless or intentionally trying to mislead people, we go from 2/44 to 4/44. Now consider that only one team wins a SB each year, and the vast majority of drafted quarterbacks never win one. All of a sudden, a 1/11 chance seems pretty good over a period of 50 years.

Mahomes scrambled for his life at Texas Tech while lighting it up.

It’s the NFL, not College. My point versus the video is that Mahomes could not overcome such a bad team and would not come close to sniffing a SB under Gase. Now, Dont get me wrong, I would love to have him, and build a team around him with this coaching staff.

Two weeks, three days to draft day. Start loading up your ammunition.

Exactly. Many QBs who weren't even good prospects, but were the best or one of the best QBs in that that draft class were drafted early because some teams were so desperate for a QB, and QB is that important. He totally ignores the fact of the difference in quality and talent of all those QBs, and instead treats them as if they were all equal.

I don’t get why that even needs to be said. If we had Mahomes, we at least would have known we have our QB and just needed to replace the CS rather than both.

It's worse than that, he omitted Elway and Eli Manning on a technicality.

Let me try again. I was responding to the video. Nothing to do as to why or why not we didn’t go after Mahomes. We didn’t get him because we had an idiot as GM. He fucked up. He was fired. It’s time to move on.

With Darnold we "knew" we had our QB and replaced the CS and things got worse not better.

Mahomes needed Andy Reid or somebody like him - and there are very few people at that mentoring level in the NFL all time.

If we had taken Mahomes he would have been on the field game one and likely had major growing pains and we still would have surrounded him with Maccrappola and he'd be the one going out of town this year.

It takes a team to raise a QB most of the time and the Jets have been a lousy team in recent years.

Sorry, Mahomes would still be here, and almost certainly we would not have had the 2nd pick. Now, would he have done as well as he has for KC? Of course not! But he's so much better than Darnold it's not even debatable. Mahomes IS a once in a generation talent.

Mahomes had Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill and Eric Fisher and Mitchell Schwartz on the job when he arrived.

We tend to discount the effect of the other talent on the roster when a great QB shows his stuff.

On the Jets it would have been Chris Herndon and Robby Anderson and Kelvin Beachum and Brandon Shell and you guys are totally deluded if you think Mahomes wouldn't have had a very rough start with the Jets talent. Particularly given that we have no patience with rookie QB's and always throw them on the field day 1.

Mahomes went to one of a few situations in which all his talents would hang out when he finally got on the field. There are a dozen teams in the NFL that would have ruined him.

I said my own personal grades. If we go by draft order that means Trubisky was ahead of Mahomes too?
