“...best available for their system” is where you lose me. We are talking QB not a 4-3 DE vs 3-4 OLB. That whole idea about “system fit” is one of the reasons why guys like Mahomes, Allen, Watson, Herbert...etc. were not the top QBs picked in their draft. That’s a terrible thing to consider when drafting a QB. Nobody is running the wishbone in college. Everyone is using similar enough concepts to be able to project them in the NFL. As long as you feel a QB prospect has the mental aptitude to learn your “system”, that’s all that matters. Just my thoughts on the topic.

    Well said

A system” for QBs at the NFL level doesn’t really exist.. it’s more a team adjusting their offence to suit their players strengths. Just like the Ravens transitioned to Joe Flacco’s strengths inside the pocket to Lamars strengths outside the pocket.

Only a CS lacking confidence or on the hot seat would be concerned about system fit when it comes to drafting a QB this high IMO.

I stopped after 20 seconds, my assessment is that the guy needs a girlfriend or a good hard shag by a lady or a fella if that is the way he lies.

I actually went back but lasted only until he put a Math equation on the screen, I was right all along.

Haha yeah he kind of looks like a dork but you are focused on his appearance? A guy needing a girlfriend? A haircut? Lol come on, I was trying to pay attention to the commentary lol

Anyways I found his take on Fields for comparison:

When you have to listen to somebody for 35 minutes they can not sound like a dork, I never mentioned his hair though :)

Besides all of that it is the same throws analysed or analised take your pick, we have seen them all to death, all it boils down to is who likes who most at the end of the day.

I have massive worries about both of them and the others for that matter, I am nervous that we are going to blow it again in any matter of different ways.

As a Jets fan, I am always worried about the quarterback. I feel like if Aaron Rodgers were a Jet he would end up having his worst pro season here with 25 picks and then sign a long term deal only to have a torn labrum lol. Just End The Season :D

You are right. Poor choice of words. Its whomever they feel most comfortable to run their offense based on the evaluation of strength and weaknesses.

He just focuses on Jeopardy! 24/7 and loses complete interest in the NFL immediately after being traded to the Jets. I could see that. :)

While I actually agree with much of what this kid said, the problem is that he is a kid. How many QBs has he studied in his short life? Maybe he's a savant, but I have trouble looking past his age (says the grumpy old man:)). Beyond that, after listening to part of his Fields analysis I concluded that he's biased, although he tries not to come across that way. In any case, like K'OB said, I've seen so much of these breakdowns and all the arguments for and against, I'm saturated. I really should just take a sabbatical until the draft.

100% agree. If you don’t play to the strengths of your players your a dead man walking. Adam Gase just proved that. When Gase had success he wasn’t calling plays really because Peyton was on the field making the call.

Rockinz. How do you project Wilson's success? If he meets your modest expectations, will he at least be as serviceable as say Matt Ryan or Matthew Stafford?

I think his success will depend on who he gets surrounded by early in his career. If it were up to me I’d sit him for at least half a season so he has time to learn the pro game and get up to speed in practice. However, that’s not realistic so JD needs to add to the OL and a RB to help the kid this year and take some of the pressure off him so his confidence doesn’t get crushed like it did for Darnold.

My best comparison to what I believe Wilson can be is Matthew Stafford. I think he has the ceiling to get to Drew Brees/Aaron Rodgers but that’s really high praise. His floor is Jimmy G/Andy Dalton. Similar frame, similar throwing motion, similar footwork and is all in on football that’s why I like the Stafford comp.

IDK if he needs a RB more so some stud WR/TE that he can count on to catch the ball, along with a better OL as you noted. A speedy, pass catching RB in the 3rd or 4th round is doable I think. In any case Douglas absolutely has to improve the "O" as the priority in the draft. Even if he didn't take a single "D" player I wouldn't call that too much. The defense with the additions in FA and a defensive minded HC like Saleh should be okay for the time being.

My best comparisons to Wilson are Mahomes and Elway, although he hasn't proven that he's as good. Still, his game reminds me of both those guys, and if he can come reasonably close to achieving their success I'll be happy.

    Mahomes and Elway?!?!

The only QB prospect I would grade higher than Mahomes in my time watching football is Elway. So all I got to say is...

Watching the videos I can’t determine one is better than the other . If you guys can determine that one is better than other or make comparisons to the next Mahomes or Elway, kudos to you. I hope you’re right. I think the Jets and NFL scouts and experts have other things that they see that we don’t know. If Wilson s the guy so be it, I’ll root for him.
