If he's not as good as the best QB in the league there's no point in drafting him? What?

That guy has gone off the deep end. He's been irreversibly damaged by the trade of his idol, Sam Darnold. Ever since he's been posting utter nonsense.

Since I've assumed the Jets won't have a shot at Lawrence, I haven't watched any of his highlight videos. I like his hair.

Nay, he's always been that way as long as I've been on the board.

You get my point....if were not ending up with a FQB who can beat the best of them and still we'll need a dominant team to pull it off, then why are we killing ourselves to land Zack when we could just trade down, load up and one or two more superstar-starters, then take Fields or one of the other options a tad later?
Well, even if Zack is pretty good there's still 5 or 6 QBs that will always be better than him, so why draft a QB at all who won't be able to beat the best and get us a fricken ring? I get he might good enough to get us close, and that's a huge improvement, but if he can't beat Maohmes, Rogers, Allen, Lamar, Herbert, Burrow, then why are we even doing this? Just to get the 2nd place trophy every year?

Whats the point of ever drafting a QB than? By this logic, Cincinnati shouldnt have drafted Burrow, since he wont be as good as Mahomes, same with the Chargers and Herbert.

Mahomes is on an absurd all time trajectory. Should no one take a QB ever, since they're not as good as him?

I ask if you were serious but unfortunately I know you are. Just take a break for a bit. You're thinking is clearly muddled.

You know I usually appreciate your posts because you often offer an unusual, or sometimes contrarian, view, and I think it's good to at least hear different aspects of an issue or opinion, but sometimes you go too far IMO. This is one of those times.

Why should ANY team bother drafting or signing another QB as long as Mahomes still plays? Why bother? In fact, why even show up to play KC? Just forfeit the game and move on. Good thing Tampa Bay decided to show up with their decrepit, over the hill QB I guess.

And how long do you think it will take before the following things align:

    1. The next "Mahomes" comes out.
    2. The Jets have the #1 pick, or
    3. Have enough assets to trade up to #1 AND
    4. The team with #1 pick decides they don't need the next "Mahomes"?

The odds of those stars aligning are astronomical. It could likely be a hundred years or more before the Jets have a shot to get their "Mahomes".

Or...they could draft somebody in two and half weeks nearly as good as Mahomes coming out, with the potential be as good or better, and certainly capable of being good enough to lead the Jets to victory over Mahomes or anyone else.

Your post is reason for wanting to have computers installed with "delay" software that doesn't actually send out information for 24 hours to allow the originator time to reflect and change their mind.

Your not getting what I was thinking about out loud. I'll try again: If Zack will never be better or even as good as Mahomes, Allen, Rogers, et al, then what's the point on wasting the immense value of a #2 pick on him? Maybe trading down to beef up the entire 'team', then taking a Trey Lance later on is a better use of the #2?

If Zack were indeed the second coming, like if he were 6'5", 235lbs, 3 solid years of great success in the SEC, no injury history, all that, then MAYBE go all in?

Another angle: If we were sitting at #10 like last year, would we trade the farm to move up to get Zack? Is Zack THAT good? If not, then it works the other way around too.

I'm not calling for anything other than maybe Zack isn't worth using the #2 on him while the rest of the team be damned.
