We would have had home playoff games had he looked great during the regular season.

Sanchez was on a really good team and he held them back with his dogs shit play. Yes he played ok in the playoffs but those games were all road games because he generally sucked in the regular season.

From an article on Darnold on NFL.com by Bucky Brooks. Any guesses which "assistant" this is?

"The kid can play," a former Jets offensive assistant coach told me this week. "He is an alpha with the ability to make all of the throws. ... He is a hard worker who earns the respect of his teammates and he isn't afraid of the stage. We probably put too much on his shoulders and he struggled with all of the responsibility at the line of scrimmage. When we scaled it back at the end of 2019, he flourished as a player and the offense took off. ... If we stayed with that approach last season, he would've played better."

Also, he ain't trashing anybody, why can't he let the author put his name on it?

Very nice. I said it numerous times, Gase didn’t tailor his game to his players strength. Shame on us.

None of Darnold's flaws? Isn't Darnold's biggest flaw not being able to read defenses and find the right receiver in the face of an NFL rush? Doesn't everything else he has failed at derive from that? Where has Wilson even experienced that? Where has he read the kind of defenses he'll face in the NFL, gone through those progressions and succeeded at the speed necessary? He's had the comfort of not having to look past his first receiver the majority of the time and has had average success when his first guy is not there. How can you say he doesn't have any of those flaws?

I'd have held onto Darnold as an incentive to have the Panthers trade up to the #2 however the deal that JD got was sound.

The Jets get another good camp body in the 6th round pick this year and they get two decent picks next year in a draft that will have far fewer questions than the 2021 affair.

One thing that doesn't get a lot of press is that the Jets basically have let all their free agents except for Maye depart and the roster definitely can use a few more solid bodies for camp.

If that's not trashing Gase, what is? Not that anyone should lose sleep over trashing Gase or anything.

he didnt trade him after his first season... he did trade the 2015 first round pick, the 2017 first round pick, the 2018 first round pick. an all pro, 2 time pro bowler, a pro bowler and the 3rd pick in the draft a few years ago.

so he kept quinnen, who was coming off his rookie season. not an all pro or pro bowler. could become one but hasnt been one. becton who he drafted last year who also isnt a pro bowler and mims had a total of 23 receptions last year. the only guy who is a guy who we could say is a solid productive difference maker is marcus maye.

so the team has 2 freaking guys who arent pro bowlers but are legitimate nfl football players. meanwhile they traded away guys that were pro bowlers.

yeah yeah build for the future, have to draft guys. have to fill holes the next 2 years. vs proven commodities. i dont know ill take one in the hand over 2 in the bush.

and lets not forget how things went south with jamal adams, they had a shit bag as a head coach. who they allowed to make the team the laughingstock and then let him win enough to lose the top draft pick. then said they wanted to sign him long term and then didnt send a proposal over....

"The turning point, Adams said, is when general manager Joe Douglas wanted Adams to prove his loyalty to the franchise. The safety felt he had done that already in his years with the franchise and told the Daily News he felt insulted by the request."

Adams got traded because he was trying to wag the dog. Everybody else has been traded on the merits of not overpaying an average player.

Spot on. I do suspect after the draft shakes out, more free agents will be added to fill in the voids.

Nacho played 'ok' in the playoffs? He only became the first QB to win FOUR road playoff games while being rated the highest QBR of any Jet QB in our playoff history.

Are people really forgetting how much of a cretin Jamal was being before we got rid of him like a bad habit?

I'm sure if his extension doesn't go the way he wants, he'll start piping up in Seattle.

He won those games? Or maybe it was the team around him. You are so lost most of the time.

So you wanted to pay Adams that kind of money? Come on. Adams had to go. Williams underperformed and Darnold was the worst rated passer over his 3 years as a starter.

Cmon, Sam had 3 yrs, he had moment few and far between. Obviously the talent is there, but inconsistent. Wilson had clean slate, and looks like he processes things much faster.

27th ranked but top 10 best

sanchez was not a good quarterback. he played fairly well for a period and did enough to win a couple games. lets not make it out like he was some kind of top qb.

Mark's QB stats including QBR were the highest over those four road wins as any Jets QB in the playoffs, the best ever. Even better than Joe Namath's PO numbers.

Now, maybe you can argue the other Jets QBs who've been in PO games didn't do to much, so the bar was low. That's fair, but to say Mark was just avg and did nothing special to win those games is a statement that only a youth fan who was told to go to be before the game was over would make.

Nacho went from a rookie/young QB with below avg results who's teams barely made the 6th wildcard spot, but became a different animal once the coin was flipped. Mark not only defeated Payton Manning and the Colts, he then went on and smashed Tom Brady and the Bellichick led NE Patriots, sending them home early. Two of the toughest PO games back to back.

I'm sorry if your memory of Mark was just mehhh, but if you're old enough now to stay up late tonight and watch both games end to end, do it! ;)

He threw the ball 15 times against Cincinnati while Greene and Jones combined for 169 yards on the ground.

He threw for 100 yards against the Chargers and again they ran for 169 yards.

He threw for 189 yards, no TD' and a pick in the Colts win. We rushed for 152 yards.

He played the best against NE throwing 3 TD but still didn't manage 200 yards of passing.

You have a real infatuation with Jets QB's. Did you put your Darnold poster right next to your Sanchez poster?
