OSU offense does not have built in hot routes. There’s no one to get the ball to quickly when everyone is running long developing routes down field
I think getting folks getting their panties all bunched up over QB prospects not even in green and white yet is “gay” as you so eloquently put it. These future millionaires aren’t worth my internet tears. I’m just expressing my thoughts and having fun. Some in here get really tight about Mahomes and Rodgers’ love child.

Most of his posts are “shitty” like that when you disagree with him. He’s been doing this for years. I take long breaks off this board and I come back and it’s the always the same shit.

Somehow just realized I can derive the raw numbers from the percentages. Wilson had 336 passing attempts last season and faced pressure on 74 of them (0.22 x 336). Fields faced pressure on 65 out of 225 passing attempts.

I know. Fields takes a lot more sacks than the other QB's though. Goes back to what some of us have been saying that he doesn't know when to throw it away. It's all or nothing with him, can't give up on plays.

you can fix that. Hell it will probably fix itself naturally after a half season of getting his head crushed in

He knows; he’s just confident in his ability to make a play down field and/or evade defenders. In the NFL it’s either going to get him killed or he’ll be like some of the other good mobile QBs that rack up a ton of sacks. It all depends on what spectrum you are looking at it. If you think he’s closer to Vince Young, then it’s a YUGE (Trump voice) “red flag”. If you think he’s closer to Russell Wilson, then it’s not a huge concern.

I watched the press conference with JD after they traded Darnold and his hand movements secretly signaled that they are picking Wilson.

goal posts are fields is amazing showing toughness for playing through a rib injury in a game but wilson had a bum shoulder in 2018 and was removing surgery from in 2019 and broke his thumb and came back form it early it's whatever he sucks bro. fields spent most of his film hitting wide open targets padding stats but wilson sucks because he played less competition despite the fact he WRs were blanketed and he threw it in there anyway. wilson had the statistical advantage over fields everywhere in 2020 when he was healthy and had a real offseason but it's ignored because fields slightly beat him out when you include 2019 when he was hurt. those are just a few of the double standards and goal posts movings i've seen

in regards to fields sure he's an elite athlete but most NFL players are. it's kind of in the job description. He's fast not as fast as jackson or murray but probably more so then any other QB in the NFL right now. his mechanics are good better then wilsons but his release is slow and wind up is long. he hasn't improved on it. meanwhile a guy like brady has a faster release at 40 then he did at 30 because he's always working on it. nothing shows me he'll fix it. fields needs his body to make those throws, wilson doesn't wilson has the better arm. fields is accurate and can drop it in nicely, but so does wilson and he does it better. wilson also throws WRs open, fields doesn't or at least hasn't. Fields has an issue escaping pressure despite his speed, doesn't have a good pocket field and doesn't process fast enough. takes too many unnecessary sacks. wilson hasn't he gets the ball out from any angle and moves in the pocket really well to evade rushers and is athletic enough to roll out and take off if needed. wilson has better pocket presence and fields. fields is better in the open field but it's not a big part of his game and may or may not be in the NFL.

this was probably the best post so far though as at least you explained what you see. I see it too, but I also see the negatives which are being ignored and that wilson does everything better we need. outside of straight line speed fields as a prospect has nothing above wilson. he's still a good prospect likely turns into a solid QB but i'd rather have the guy with the mahomes/rodgers potential then the guy who is solid. Not to mention scheme fit, wilsons process speed and quick release and arm talent fit the bill for us better then fields more methodical slower style of play and when the play breaks down, wilson is just a better improviser.

I heard someone compare Fields to Russel Wilson and Dak Prescott. So he must be their love child!

    See.

I want to know where and why people think that Justin Fields has a slow release? Is there some scientific evidence that has been done to proclaim this? I know they do time these kind of things, so I would love to know If someone has this type of data?

I ask because I definitely think he has a quick release In his throws. So I don't understand this critic at all. I've watched him numerous times now, never did I feel like he had a slow release. His mechanics are fantastic and his throwing motion Is really good because Of It. You arguing that It's better to have a stronger arm than mechanics, just Isn't sound. Mechanics will not only carry your arm further, It will keep you In the game longer. You are more accurate, durable, and stronger when you have proper throwing mechanics. It's very evident to me that Fields has very sound mechanics and fundamentals In that department. He absolutely does not only throw to WIDE OPEN receivers, this Is total bullshit. This Is also why I have a strong feeling your "video study" on Justin Fields stems from a handful of highlight videos on YouTube, instead of actually watching him play In actual games to conclude an overall body of work on him.

Being an elite athlete is not a requirement at the QB position especially. This also does not apply. Tom Brady is the farthest thing from an Elite Athlete. Fields Is fast, would be instantly at the top of the league at the position.

I see Fields making tight window throws every game he plays. It happens way more than you are giving him credit for. You think playing against the level of competition he has played In, he isn't going to be throwing Into tight windows? BYU had the best talent on the field, every single game. There literally wasn't a game they shouldn't have won on that BYU schedule. There wasn't a single team that had more talent at any point on that schedule.

I do agree that Fields does need to be better with his pocket awareness at times. I think he trusted his OL and WR a little too much at times, as It cost him at times. However, I don't think It's nearly as bad as others proclaim either. OSU dealt with injuries along that line for a big part of the year, Covid also prevented a lot of starters to be available In some of those games. It was a weird year overall, It contributed to some BS, but, that's not an excuse either. I do believe Fields needs to be better with pocket awareness.

I don't think Wilson Is more accurate. I certainly don't think he does It better than, Fields.

Fields absolutely has and can throw his receivers open. Many games show that. He's very good at putting the ball In the area's that only his receiver can get It. Not sure what you're talking about with that.

I think that the only thing that Wilson does better, Is he moves inside of the pocket better.

    Justin Fields -

He has tremendous velocity on his throws due to his arm strength and great mechanical structure In his throwing motion.
He Is very good at rolling out of the pocket and delivering strikes with sound accuracy and arm strength.
Extremely valuable against Man Coverage due to his threat of being not only accurate with the football, but, dynamic with his legs. He will make 3rd down conversations much easier for whatever team he goes to.
He is actually good with his eyes and his progression transitions, he manipulates at the second level and third level fairly consistently. It's impressive for a college QB.
Very smooth In the pocket going through his progressions. Fluid. Does struggle when things break down quickly at times. Needs work with pocket movement when breakdowns tend to occur.
    Extremely tough and durable.
    Great leader of men.
I think that Justin Fields Is a very accurate, clutch, mobile, mechanically sound, extremely high football IQ, and a leader.

I think the only true flaw that I see with him, Is his struggle inside of the pocket, AT TIMES, while under pressure. I do not believe he Is bad under pressure, I don't think he Is incapable of handling the blitz either. I don't know what the exact numbers are but I am confident that under pressure and during blitzes, he still shines more times than not.

I do think that some teams were able to expose him In ways that he had not been prepared for or hadn't seen before. The Indiana game was a game that truly displayed that.

The thing Is. Those things that The Hoosiers were able to do to expose him, he learned from, and adapted. Teams after Indiana tried similar concepts but he was ready for them following that game.

Anyway.. I could break It down even more. It's pointless because you'll just keep saying Wilson Is so much better at everything. Even though I don't think there Is statistical proof of that or video proof of that.

    To each their own though.

We are likely going to draft Wilson.. So, I sure hope you Wilson fans are right. I truly do. I just can't help but feel like we will regret It.

    We shall see.

So Wilson actually had an even larger sample size than Fields when pressured and got the highest statistical grade in class for preforming when doing so. All of the top QBs got great O lines compared to competition, and Zach performed better with bigger sample size than key draft position competitor. What's not to like?

  20. I get it.

And in 99% of cases its likely right taking a QB in this spot even forcing one.

But i learned my lesson after 2018.The jets are the exception. They are the 1%. People arent respecting how bad this roster truly is & has been.

Even w all these picks, we’re still just filling holes. We arent even thinking about playmakers, difference makers or chess pieces. I mean..do people truly grasp how bad this offense is?How bad this roster is? Why we’ve moved on from a guy everyone still thought was the savior less than a year ago?

How does thrusting a raw unproven QB help that? It definitely removes other great positional talents that could provide instant impact from consideration w a #2 overall pick.

We talk about instant gratification.Does it really mean that much to have the bravado & a new face behind center rather than drastically improving team speed & adding prime athletes?

Im almost afraid to hear people’s replies at this stage.
