Do you have the attempts per each or perhaps what they classify as pressure? Would be interesting to see both added on.
“Banged up” shouldn’t impact decision making. There are quite a few poor decisions he paid for dearly in 2019 that he strangely got away with in 2020. I can’t seem to put my finger on why that was the case why that is. Anybody know why?
that's just toughness and talent. many players play through injuries we don't know about by watching them play. not to mention losing an offseason of improving to rehab. the jump from 2019 to 2020 shows his commitment to getting better and ability to improve. but enough about wilson why not tell me what's so great about fields i'm apparently missing. it's funny because the fields supporters don't talk up fields, they trash wilson. that's a telling sign. If you want to tell me fields will be solid and you think wilson will bust i'd buy it. but nobody can tell me what's so good about fields and the goal post moving and double standard is hilarious
Wilson faced the least amount of pressure of any of the top QB prospects but he performed the best when pressured. There were enough pressure snaps for it to be an adequate sample size, regardless.
This is a very astute observation. I've always felt that when you are championing one person over another, no matter what the situation is (sports, politics, etc.) it is a much more compelling argument when you state the pros for your guy and not constantly argue the cons for the other. And all we hear is the negatives for Wilson (cupcake schedule seems to be the main issue.) It would be nice to hear someone pump up Fields instead of constantly shitting on Wilson.
exactly my point. it's getting to the point where i'm wondering what i'm missing with fields. If there is something I can have pointed out i'm missing that can help me do better analysis in the future i'd love to hear it. but nobody can tell me anything good about him. it's the baker/allen all over again. just quote stats for baker and then trash allens stats and competition. when the film said allen would be better
Spot on! It's ridiculous that some are trying to say that Wilson's labrum surgery and surgery for a broken hand didn't affect his play in 2019. It shows how blind they are and how flawed their reasoning is. It also could affect decision making. He was used to making certain throws but because of the lack of arm or grip strength, and perhaps tightness, he suddenly couldn't make those throws. It also could just be that he had to learn to improve his decision making and he did. That shouldn't be seen as a negative, but a positive.
Do you have the raw numbers though? What goal posts are moving? He's an elite athlete, he has excellent quarterback mechanics are far as his whole body moving in sync and following through on his throws. His mechanics on the move are equally as impressive in the way he positions his body to make throws. He has lots of experience making NFL style throws in the chunk yardage opportunities of the 11-25 range with proper arc and velocity to all spots of the field. He has natural abilities to escape pressure and shed tacklers although he needs to learn when to live to fight another die on plays. He can take what's given even though the offense wasn't built to do so against most teams he faced and he demonstrated that against Clemson. He played against a high competition level and thrived when he did so, along with playing in the toughest defensive conference in the country. He's not as shifty as Wilson and doesn't quite have the ability to escape as he does but he has raw athleticism which will show itself when it's gets into the open field. His arm mechanics are fine because everything else is done well when throwing the ball. Longer than you'd want, but strange mechanics are not a new phenomenon in the NFL. Have you ever seen Phillip Rivers wind up? Russell Wilson throws like a center fielder. One of Mahomes' biggest documented negatives was shitty arm and throwing mechanics albeit different styles. What else you want? What critiques do you have other than using the new buzz word which is "processing time," or a longer mechanical motion? I think @Big Cat first pointed out that he needs to get into his drop back quicker and accelerate his footwork. That's fine, that's a relatively easy fix and the overall speed of the game and style of NFL offenses command that.
You know what, I'm done trying to discuss the QB issue with you. I know what you're doing and you can shove it. You're trying to put words in my mouth, and twist what I've said. The Wilson supporters have acknowledged that we like Fields too and would support him, but you just have to keep on taking digs at Wilson and at those of us who support him. I hope Fields drops to about 10 and then busts.
I don't have the raw numbers on hand but if I recall Wilson faced pressure on 22% of his snaps while Fields faced pressure on 29%. Getting the ball out quickly is a factor in this, and Fields holds the ball longer per dropback than any other major prospect.
I'm not a huge fan of any the prospects. And I think the battle on this board about 2 guys we have no idea about is really gay... but obviously coming to grips with the idea of Wilson being my favorite team's QB so I am trying to really like him now. I read a scouting report about Wilson and in the positive category was: "confident" and in the negative category was "overly confident" and it pumped me up a little
Just because YOU like both, doesn't mean OTHERS have to like both. I don't think Wilson will be good In the NFL. I think he will be a mistake, especially when passing over, Justin Fields. If we take him, I hope to be proven wrong, I'll gladly accept that I was wrong. That doesn't mean I HAVE to like both because OTHERS do. That Isn't sound logic. Then you hope bad on a young kid because you are defensive about what other posters think and say on a message board? What Is that? I like you, NC. I do. I think you should stop taking everything so personal though. Nobody Is attacking you. It's okay If people attack Wilson for his FOOTBALL stance In life. I don't see anyone hoping that the kid fails though. That post was shitty to me.
