April 6th 1) Jax - QB Trevor Lawerence at this point meyer isn't even hiding it. we all know tlaw is the pick. they get a FQB to rebuild with 2) NYJ - QB Zack Wilson Same as above. it was clear the jets are taking wilson which caused the niners to move up for a QB and also caused the eagles to move down as they wanted wilson and without him decided to stockpile picks. 3) SF - QB Mac jones they already said they traded up to take a QB. Jones is perfect for their system and they are skipping fields pro day. 4) ATL - TE Kyle Pitts old pick - Devonta Smith Originally I had a WR here, ryan still has gas in the tank, and I don't think they take the 4th best QB in the class over taking any non QB they want. Pitts has the potential to be a game changer at TE. 5) Cincy - WR Ja'Marr Chase I think most people want them to go o-line. but it's a deep o-line class and they can get a starter in the 2nd round. Burrow is lobbying for chase. they would be dumb to ignore him 6) Mia -WR Devonta Smith Old Pick - WR Jaylen Waddle Miami is a pretty solid team and has 6 1st round picks over the next 3 years. plenty to build a team. WR is their weakest link so taking the best one makes the most sense here. Originally I had Waddle but with ATL opting for pitts over chase meaning the fins will take chase over waddle 7) Det - LB Micah Parsons Lions have a new HC and new QB so many may think the pick is offense here. but the lions have had plenty of good offense over the years but haven't won anything. they need to start by rebuilding their D. parsons is a versatile 4-3 LBer who can play any position with sub 4.4 speed and a monster splash playmaker. perfect for the kneecap biting head coach 8) Car - WR Jalen Waddle Old Pick - QB Justin Fields Originally I Had Fields here but with carolina trading for sam and optioning him, I think they are going to build around him for now. Adding Waddle to a group that already includes robby anderson and DJ moore plus they have to replace curtis samuel so it's another weapon for sam. not to mention CMC 9) Den - QB Justin Fields Old Pick - Qb Trey Lance Originally I had lance, But in this version fields falls so denver has to take him. They've been looking to replace lock and fields is great value at 9 10) Dal - LT Penei Sewell original Pick - TE Pitts Originally I had pitts here, but pitts is gone. instead jerry jones will opt to protect his 40 million dollar QB and open more holes for his 18 million dollar RB. Sewell is that man 11) TRADE NYG > NE Pick QB Trey Lance (NE sends 15th overall, 2nd rounder and 6th rounder to NYG for 11th overall and 3rd rounder) Old Pick - NYG - LT Penei Sewell Bill might say he loves cam, but cam isn't good or a long term answer. They won't take any chance here and will move up for a QB and grab lance who can sit a year behind cam then take over in 2022 12) Phi - CB Patrick Surtain II the eagles are tough to guage. They wanted to move into the top 2 for wilson. jets said no we are taking him. then they traded back from 6 to 12 for more picks. clearly they have a ton of holes and are in full rebuild mode. this pick could be anything but a QB so i'll go with the BPA overall 13) LAC - LT Rashawn Slater Chargers got a young stud QB, solid Defense, solid WRs. Their priority should be protecting herbert so they grab the top o-lineman off the board here and likely follow up with a WR in round 2 14) Min - CB Jaycee Horn I'd love for horn to fall to the jets but I don't see it happening. Minn needs to improve their D badly. their offense is already stacked so horn makes the most sense here 15) NYG - WR Rashod Bateman OLD Pick - NE - WR Rashod Bateman The team changes but the pick remains the same. Giants are all in with DJ at QB. they landed galliday and signed rudolph to bolster their weapons. bateman can start opposite of galliday with slayton and shepard in the slot and barkley at RB giving DJ some of the best weapons any QB can ask for 16) Ari - Christian Barmore DT The cards offense is already pretty well built. So the pick has to be defense. taking the best d-lineman makes sense. they added JJ watt as well in the offseason. Barmore is a force in the middle and will help control the LOS and eat up blockers for the pass rushers to get 1 on 1s 17) LVR - S Trevon Moehrig They lost their 2 starting safeties to FA and really need to improve their D. taking the top safety in the draft makes the most sense here. 18) MIA - LT Christian Darrisaw Miami is loaded with picks but the priority now is building around tua and if tua fails having a good team in place for his replacement. They got a stud WR already so now they go with the o-line to protect tua 19) WFT - WR Elijah Moore WFT is loading up on WRs now. they defense is legit but their offense needs work badly. They added samuel and humphries to go with scary terry. now they add more to really stack on WRs for fitzmagic on a 1 year deal. shuld be a fun team to watch and favorites to win the NFC east if fitz brings the magic. They still need a long term QB solution thoug. they tried to trade up for lance but NE beats them to it 20) CHI - CB Greg Newsome Chicago is tough as well. Their D is already good and their offense is good outside of QB. They need a WR but the value isn't there. they are going with the red rifle and foles to back him up. they need a long term QB at some point as well but I think they add to the already great D here 21) IND - EDGE Kwity Paye Indy is pretty stacked overall and just traded for wentz to QB trying to fill lucks shoes which they haven't been able to do the past 2 years. Adding Paye though gives them a much needed edge rusher which is really all their D is lacking 22) TEN - EDGE Jayson Oweh Tenn is already a playoff team who wins with a dominant run game and defense. adding in another edge rusher will only help that and will pair with newly signed bud dupree 23) NYJ - ILB/OLB Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah I know jet fans will hate this pick. Many want o-line or CB here but looking at what JD has done so far I think he's going to build the D through the draft. We added 2 Wrs, we can get OGs and CBs later on but JOK is an all gas no breaks 3 down versatile Lber for saleh to use. our Lber group is all up in the air right now. mosley has been out of football 2 years and never played in a 4-3. Cashman is always hurt and still more potential then proven. Davis was a 1 year FA signign and former 1st round bust and we have 0 depth. JOK is the ype of player we can build a LBer group around 24) PIT - EDGE Azeez Ojulari Pitt looks to replace Bud dupree who walked in free agency. They haven't lost any other big positions and already were pretty solid as a team. Edge makes the most sense here 25) Jax - WR Terrace Marshall Jr Jax got their QB in Tlaw, now they need to give him people to throw to. Marshall is the best WR available at this point 26) CLE - OT Walker Little I really felt like he would fall and be a steal in the 3rd round after not playing for 2 years, but I just don't see it anymore. I think he still goes in the 1st and cleveland is well rounded already as a team so adding in o-line improvements only makes them better 27) BAL - EDGE Jaelan Phillips BAL didn't lose a pass rusher but did franchise tag Judon. it's likely he walks after this season so drafting a replacement now makes sense on a roster that doens't have much needs 28) NO - CB Caleb Farley NO is well full of holes now. they had to make some concessions due to the cap and brees retired leaving the QB spot up for grabs between winston and hill. D is likely their main concern though as the offense still has weapons and sean peyton is a master of scheming up plays. Their star CB is in some trouble with the law as well. Adding farley to the D is their best move right now 29) GB - WR Rondale Moore For the love of god, get rodgers some players to throw to. the combo of adams and a bunch of scrubs isn't working. WR is the obvious pick here 30) BUF - OT Dillon Radunz The bills are very well rounded as it is. they have a great D, solid o-line, and good WRs. I could see them taking a RB here at 30. it's their weakest spot and no RB has been taken yet so they could have their choice. but I think they go with the o-line improvement and take a RB later 31) KC - OT Teven Jenkins They lost the SB because of injuries to the o-line. They added Thuney in free agency and I think they draft o-line as well. priority number 1 is protect mahomes. 32) TB - EDGE Gregory Rousseau What do the SB champs do when they bring back all 22 starters? well they pick whoever they want. In this case GR who was once looked at as a top 10 pick has slid down draft boards. A lot of their rushers are aging and on 1 year deals. getting a cheap EDGE rusher in the rotation only makes their D scarier.
can't have both and we have becton at LT. drafting back to back LTs when you don't have a QB is a jet thing to do
There's no way Teven Jenkins is falling to pick #31. If he's there at #23, the Jets HAVE to take him. They'd be fools not to imo. I think that you and others here are overrating JOK.
I could be overeating JOK. he does miss a lot of tackles and isn't good getting off blocks but LBer is such a huge need for us and I think people are forgetting that. We don't need a LT we have becton. what we need right now are OGs which can be had with pick 34 or even 66
Carolina is Jets South. They got the HC we shoulda hired plus a WR, 2QBs, and OG who were recently Jets. Their OL is trash. I didn’t think my comment was that complicated. Sorry for overestimating.
Teven Jenkins isn't a LT. He is a RT or OG. I think he will be a great RT in the NFL, but we could play him at OG for a year or two until Fant is gone, and then move him to RT. WLB is a need, but not a greater need than protecting the QB, and we don't need a LB who can't tackle. If Connor Rogers is correct, he said that the Jets are focusing on OL, CB and RB in the draft.
could be. I wouldn't complain about o-line but it's a deep o-line class and plenty to be had in the 2nd and 3rd. pretty deep at CB too. we really need to remake the LBer group but i'll trust JD in whatever he decides
I trust him, but he could still make a mistake. IMO if Vera-Tucker and Jenkins are there at #23, and JD doesn't take one of them, and instead takes a CB or LB or DE, then it's a HUGE mistake until both players prove to not be good in the NFL. Again, protecting the QB should be the #1 priority. If it isn't, then neither JD or Saleh have learned anything from what happened with Sam and are either arrogant or stupid, or both. The OL class is not that deep, especially for our wide zone scheme. There are a lot more IOL who are fits for a man power scheme, but don't have the agility, movement skills for our scheme. IMO there's a huge dropoff after the first 7 OL (Rashawn Slater, Penei Sewell, Christian Darrisaw, Teven Jenkins, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Jalen Mayfield, & Wyatt Davis). All but Davis will probably be gone by pick #34. We'll be lucky if Vera-Tucker and Jenkins are still there at #23. If so, we have to take one of them.
JD understands it. he completly did the o-line last offseason. we have 4 new starters. he signed mcgovern, fant, and GVR in the offseason. resigned lewis. drafted becton in the 1st. it takes time for an o-line to gel and they didn't get an offseason due to covid which was unforeseen. Fant is good for another year or 2. he's solid and a leader in the locker room and a team captain. replacing him isn't a need. mcgovern is a good C. top 10 in the league. had a rough start but came on late last year. becton looks like a stud. it's really just the OGs and lewis is solid. GVR needs to be replaced. He did add feeny as well for depth and drafted clark late last year. I could see us drafting an OG in the 2nd or 3rd round. maybe a guy like walker little falls to the 3rd to take over for fant in a year or 2. meanwhile on defense we switched from a 3-4 to a 4-3. we don't have much at LBer at all. we did address the d--line and it's the least of our worries. secondary is iffy but we shall see. i'm ok holding off on a CB until later.
He should understand it since he was an OL himself. You don't need to re-hash the moves JD made last year, I'm very aware of them, and of the fact that we didn't have mini-camp, OTAs, or preseason. Still, Van Roten has only started a couple of years in his career, he's mostly been a backup, and is probably best-suited to be a backup. Lewis isn't good. He should return to being a backup like he was with the Ravens. If the Jets add two new starters at OG, I'd be fine with Lewis and Van Roten as the backups. Too bad JD gave Feeney $3 million guaranteed. Why I don't know. I agree that McGovern is a good C, but don't know if JD plans on extending him when his contract is up in a year or two. The same goes for Fant at RT. He's fine for another year or two, but I would imagine that JD plans to replace him at that time. That's why I say that the Jets need to add someone like Teven Jenkins or Jalen Mayfield. They can play him at RG for a year or two, and then move him out to RT when Fant's contract expires. If the Jets draft Humphrey, he could play LG for a year or two until McGovern's contract expires, then they could move him over to C. By doing this, they're improving the starters and the depth, AND are grooming replacements at two positions all at the same time. Defense does nothing to help the rookie QB. That is the least important thing to be considering. The only RT prospect I'd have any interest in in the 3rd round is James Hudson.
except i'd never take harris in the 1st lol ours is very different though not sure where you get carbon copy from. we have 26 of 32 picks different. only ones we had the same are tlaw, wilson (which is a given to anyone at this point) chase, smith, pitts, and parsons. we don't have a single thing the same after pick 7.
we have 5 picks in the top 3 rounds next year too. plenty of time to look for fant replacements there. a guy sitting on the bench doesn't help either. having a good defense keeps pressure off the QB. Qbs who defenses let up less points don't have to gun sling it. playing from behind doesn't help a QB either
When this is such a great draft for OTs, there's no point in waiting, especially, when several of these OTs can play OG and probably at a higher level than GVR or Lewis. As I said, he wouldn't be sitting on the bench, he'd be playing OG, but even if he was sitting on the bench, we need better depth at OT than Edoga and McDermott. You just don't get it. Your approach is making the same dumb mistake as Mac. You don't draft a rookie QB then turn around and draft defensive players. That's fucking stupid! The D can wait. The 5 picks in the top 3 rounds can be used on the D next year.
It is deep meaning a guy like walker little could fall to the 3rd and be the future RT. wyatt davis is likely there at 34 as well. using the 23rd for o-line seems counter productive. we put so much into the o-line already the past few years and ignored the back 7 on defense. get lit up, have to abondon the run and leave our rookie QB against a D knowing he has to chuck it
Seriously? We put so much into the OL? Fant was an insurance kind of signing. Van Roten and Lewis were stop gap-type signings. Becton was a 1st round pick and Clark a 4th round. That's hardly a lot into the OL when we had the worst OL in the NFL or one of the 3 worst. We didn't ignore the back 7, either.
fant is a team captain and loved by JD and his teammates. he's a leader. he's a JD type of guy. JD isn't looking to replace him soon. JD also really likes lewis and mcgovern. becton was drafted in the 1st last eyar. the only upgrade spot is RG with GVR, feeny, and clark. part of the issue was 4 new starters with no offseason
