Fine with either Hoyer or Smith. Kind of leaning Smith if he can get some of that mobility back. But who knows after what he went through
Meh. I really didn't want the kid (whichever it is) to play right away but I definitely don't want to see Hoyer or Smith or any of the guys available getting extended time.
Wasn't Jets-Browns like Week 3 of the 2018 schedule? Taylor started the first 3 games, then Mayfield came in and brought them back for the win, and never looked back. I could see the Jets doing something similar with Hoyer and Wilson. I think fans would be fine with that.
1 side of me doens't want the ookie to start but the other side says it's a QB friendly system, laflaur and saleh know what they are doing, and who doesn't love the excitement of a shiny new QB?
With Smith we may never see Wilson or whoever we draft cause that guy is consistently good. He is the current generation's Chad Pennington, guy is efficient. No thanks to Hoyer
Both Smith and Hoyer are 35+ and decent. But with QB's of that age you just don't know how they'll be year to year. They're good until one year the wheels come off and they're suddenly ancient and done. I'm ok with rolling with a vet until the rook can actually beat the vet out. If Alex Smith can come here for 2021 and look like the 2018 Alex Smith...then that's good Qb'ing we'll be getting
Hoyer is trash. His limited skills have eroded. Patriots had to play him last year for the Cam Newton covid game and he embarrassed them he was so bad
