Is it? The Jets were hot and heavy on Hendrickson (no offer), Fuller (no reported contact) and Linsley (never called back to talk numbers). Darnold was going to be the starting quarterback. Maybe they are all in on Wilson. But I wouldn't trust what's coming out of Florham Park because Douglas has been doing his best to throw smoke balls all over this off-season.

It's not just coming from Douglas, it's coming from everyone. Basically every prominent reporter in the league would have to be wrong for it not to be Wilson. It's possible, sure, but it seems pretty unlikely. Did you see JD's press conference comment where he all but confirmed Steve Young saying Wilson is a lock?
except after he went and watched wilson he traded darnold. already confirmed he's taking a QB at 2 and even pretty much confirmed it's wilson. it leaked out of the BYU camp and he was asked about it and smiled and all but confirmed it. there is no reason to smokescreen the number 2 pick. tlaw is going 1st they can have anyone else. the only smoke screen is whether the niners will take fields or jones and maybe they haven't decided yet
I mean do you think the rumors about the four players I mentioned came directly from Douglas's mouth directly too? They were also reports from prominent NFL reporters. All I'm saying is there is always a lot of smoke without fire from the smart organizations. It feels like we're transforming into one. He obviously likes to accumulate picks so it could be a ploy to maximize the ROI on the trade value.
The leak doesn't have to be from Douglas. If he's actively courting the Wilson family as has been reported then there are at least half a dozen other people it could leak from. What incentive does Steve Young have to misrepresent what the Wilson family is telling him? If the Jets are actually targeting Wilson at #2 (you know, like basically everyone is saying) then it doesn't matter at all if everyone knows what we're doing. It's not like the Jaguars are going to panic and take Wilson or trade the #1 pick.
the leak came from the BYU reporter and JD basically confirmed it. they asked him in the PC today based on that report and he replied "he has a really good beat on BYU"
yeah thats who it was. it's pretty clear wilson is our guy but of course JD won't confirm it until we are on the clock. In the same sense I get why people like fields and hope for him to be a jet but it's just not gonna happen. none of it matters though. only JDs opinion matters and that in 3 years we see he was right.

Which happened after JD seen wilson. it's not FA. leaks are coming from BYU sources who was there with JD and wilson. JD was recruiting wilsons whole family. Just like everyone knows tlaw is going 1st, the same for wilson going 2nd. You'd have to be dense to think it's not wilson. it's not JD. it's BYU leaking stuff. happens in the draft all the time. family and friends and reporters for the colleges leak it. it's a bunch of 20 year old kids and proud families talking and enjoying the spotlight and success.
