My guy is and will remain Teven Jenkins. The guy is so overlooked I cannot believe it. He has the size, the experience he is legit great pass blocker and arguably the best run blocker in the draft. I have found no flaw with him. He can start at guard or at tackle.
i don't want etienne at all. plus he'll be there in the 2nd for sure if not the 3rd. RB isn't a major need. I like Paye but edge isn't a huge need. we have lawson, JFM, curry, zuniga as edge rushers. not to mention rankins, Q, foley, and shep on the inside. were pretty stacked at d-line.
I'm thinking an OG in the 2nd round like wyatt davis. perfect scheme fit and can probbaly beat out GVR to start right away. we can have lewis, GVR, and clark battle for the LG spot and we have picks next eyar to get a new OG if none of them pan out. as far as WR i'd take a lte flyer on a guy like eldridge or warren jackson or tutu atwell. hunter long is a mid round TE who I think would fit good
Depending on who falls it might make sense to move up a couple spots. If we are using the #2 pick we really need to get a lot of value out of this pick.
23 has to be Oline, LB or CB for me, looking at the gaps in the team. I'll only be happy with 23 on D if the 33 is being used on offense, as this is where our primary focus should be. I feel with 21 picks in the next two drafts, we could move up a few spots to get the guy we want. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
GC I say trade #23 for another first rounder next year and a possible 2nd or 3rd rounder. My reasoning. - This year College Football was hindered due to Covid. Next year, we will have a full season most likely. Better scouting, better chance to land a great player. - It is Saleh's first year. We have a new OC and DC. Let them get settled on their roles. Let them get to know the players and try to set up a new system with existing players plus the QB they will pick at #2. Let Sales establish the identity with existing players. Use next years draft to bring in players that will fit into the new system both on offense and defense.
I get the theory for sure but we are already loaded next year with 2 1sts, 2 2nds, and a 3rd. it's best to start bringing in some young blood who fits the system now and 23 should have great value. if we can land our QB on offense and QB on defense (MLB) in the 1st this year it gives us the building blocks to build around them a team in saleh's and JDs image with the rest of our picks this year and next. plus we'll have plenty of cap for spending next year as well.
Jets still need a TE and I wouldn't want a T or G at 23. Maybe another WR or a CB. I don't believe Saleh would be happy with Austin and Hall.
I wouldn't trade 23. The Jets are devoid of talent on offense. If Pitt is still around by I would call and see if some team would take the 23 and the 1st and a 3rd for him.
A lot of good options and the defense still has needs (especially at CB and OLB), but I really want to see them go offense-heavy in this draft. I'm tired of lousy skill players and offensive linemen and worrying the QB is set up to fail. The priority has to be putting Zach Wilson in the best position to succeed. I don't want to see CB at 23 and OLB at 34.
I don't think TE is a big need. herndon has talent. rookie herndon was a TE1. we still have an unknown in wesco and signed kroft. hunter long is a guy i'd like in the 4th round for WR it can wait a year. we have 2 1sts and 2 2nds next year. this year we are a solid 4 deep. we'll also have plenty of money to spend. if we can land a godwin for example to go with davis and mims then draft a WR with 1 of our top 4 picks we are sitting pretty there
WR is not a need at all to me RB is far from a priority too, at least not with a premium pick. TE might be interesting but unless you get good value it might not be worth it. As for Offensive line, they need more time to adapt to the NFL then at any skill position and having the 5 year option is also very important in the grand scheme. If we continuously delay getting top lineman to get project with later picks is not conceivable. We won't be able to properly assess Wilson in the perfect conditions. If we fix the oline this year then next year we can target skill position. There are ALWAYS good receivers and running back available in any given draft.
he o-line isn't as bad as people think. mcgovern is a really good C. fant is solid at RT. becton is a stud at LT. it's really just the OGs. we have clark, lewis is alright, feeny seems like solid depth. GVR is trash though. drafting 1 OG high now is more then enough. we can get another new OG next year and future RT with 2 of our top 4 picks
I disagree from what I have seen of Fant is average, mcgovern is passable and the LG and RG are probably the worse combo in the NFL. I would rather have a great oline moving forward than stay mediocre for the foreseeable future. We can find a pretty damn good Tackle this year and we will most likely have to move a tackle to guard because this year class of guards stink ass.
it's a solid o-line year. clark might be good. we don't know yet. Mcgovern is a top 10 C in the league. he's fine and JD likes him at center. I'm not sure why you think fant is below average. nothing wrong with average. you can't have all pro bowlers. our OGs are bad for sure GVR is the worst starting OG in the NFL. lewis is passable for another year. landing a starting OG in the 2nd and having clark, lewis, GCR battle for the other spot is fine. we also have a different offense now and a QB who gets the ball out fast in wilson. some QBs can make their line loo better/worse. Brady is a master at it he always made his linemen look better then they were. next year we can look to upgrade fant and the other OG spot. we have tons of money to spend in FA and 5 picks in the 1st 3 rounds and much less holes then we have now. another thing with linemen is them gelling together. we overhauled the line with 4 new starters then covid hit and we had no camp. they started to gel towards the end of the year. replacing too many at once is detrimental usually. replace 1 or 2 at a time is better.
1st round picks should be used on any of the 5 skill positions: QB, LT, Edge, WR1, DB1. These 5 guys alone will consume over half of our total cap. They HAVE to be really, really good. So for us in this draft, use our 2nd First Round Pick on Edge, WR1, or DB1. Probably DB1, since JD already addressed Edge and WR in FA. Literally every other position can be found in later rounds with considerable frequency.
refreshing to talk about something other than the 20 year QB prospect that we are so DUG in on... at 23 I hope the Jets go defense. I think the Jets can get a running back in the later rounds. I would like to see a pass rusher just because I'm sick and tired of having a weakness at the position, but I think the corners are so bad, Douglas may have to address it
