Again, it's going to come down to draft picks. This whole strategy hinges on JD's ability to pick the right talent that will get this team to the next level. Last draft was solid, not great. Besides Wilson who's the obvious pick, we need his picks to be better this year.
Of course Sam's happy. He went from living in a million dollar town house in Jersey to a million dollar mansion in Carolina.
more picks to package and send to houston for deshaun watson... probably not but i can dream cant i... he does do one thing really well, accumulate draft picks. i dont think i have ever seen a gm accumulate draft picks like this guy.
I think that's exactly what's going to happen. New deal. Panthers have until May 3 to do the 5th yr, so we could see movement on a 3 yr extension before then.
Yup, right there. We don't have a ton of history on JD's drafting ability. My concern is he puts too much stock on drafting 'good men', team captains, bleed football. He's gonna have to (eventually) draft a guy with supreme talent, even if the guys a total asshole. And I'm not convinced JD is capable of this.
Sam needed that for his confidence.. the guy was depleted here. Going to NFC south will be good for his game as well as the D he will face (besides Tampa) there isn’t nearly as good as in the AFC east.
Was planning to get my son his 1st jersey immediately following pick #2. We maybe picking a new team all together.
Good spot for Sam, hope he can make something out of his career. This was a good trade for JD, he needs to hit on his picks though.
I did the math. you didn't apparently. future picks devalue a round so assuming carolina is picking around 10-12ish for 2022 2021 6th = 12.6 2022 2nd = 215 2022 4th = 27.8 total value = 255.4 the 3rd pick in round 3 is worth 255 hence high 3rd round pick as I said. next time do the math before you try and correct someone because yours is way off. also FWIW I said it was a great value for us, I never complained , I just stated a fact when someone asked what the value was
apparently he's been working on it with them since February but wasn't ready to move sam yet and carolina was more interested in watson. things came to a head at wilson's pro day. JD was sold on wilson and got to meet the panthers GM in person and discussed the trade more, panthers were backed out of watson as well due to the allegations and they got it done
I wouldn't be surprised if Darnold and the Panthers do really well this season. A smart HC and OC with some NFL experience under their belts, and the likelihood that they create a system for Darnold that actually enhances his abilities, coupled with actual offensive talent around him. Of course if this happens, I also expect all the "Darnold Bashers" here to reverse course and cry about how Douglas let him slip out of his grasp. The life of a Jets fan.
