yeah we are in a good spot. I seen this interesting thing too we have 7 picks in the top 2 rounds between this year and next. that's enough to get 2 new starting OGs, a CB, a WR, a QB, and a 2 LBers
I don't see it. we know 3 are going in the 1st 3 picks. it's very likely the 1st 2 are tlaw then wilson. so it leaves fields/lance/jones for the niners at 3. lets assume they take fields, that leaves lance and jones. the next teams with a QB need are probably denver with 9 philly at 12 possibly NE at 15. I'm thinking carolina runs with teddy b and darnold. the broncos take lance at 9 and NE lands jones at 12 after trading up with philly
Remember, JDs board was already set at about 90% before Pro Days, that means they have already attached grades to the QBs he’s interested in. Even before the hype of Wilson or Fields, or Mac Jones, or Lance, or Mond Jets already knew who they would put at the top of their QB list. None of us knows if they had their eye on Wilson or it’s just easy to fall for the frenzy that has followed Wilson since he started to skyrocket. Im not sold on the idea that Joe only has eyes for Wilson, I believe Jets are going to surprise their fans and not select the fan and media favorite.
What happens if Carolina goes 0-16 and we have the 33rd pick next year? Now, obviously I understand that could also go in the opposite direction and we’re looking at a mid-late 2nd next year if Carolina does well but the fact that we got a 2nd for Sam at all is a huge W IMO.
I completely disagree, there are no surprises here. We are taking a QB and it will be either Wilson or Fields
and what happens if they go 16-0 and win the SB? trades don't work that way. they have a fixed value at the time of trade which could change. think of it like a stock market. you buy a stock for 5 bucks, it could go up to 10 it could down down to 1, but the price you pay is what it's worth at the time.
Seems his option is getting picked up which means I can wish him to have a terrible 2021 (so we get high picks) and a bounceback 2022 that at least sets him up for a long backup career.
Darnold as a rookie with half decent coaching fixed his college fumbling issue. Amazing what coaching can do. He has the tools, but he was Jets’d. I hope this offense is truly more QB friendly, as the talent still sucks and it looks like Wilson starting without any competition.
It’s Wilson. But even it it were another QB, point is he’s putting all his eggs in one basket. Get it wrong and he will never get another shot.
WE all know the litany of issues around SAM. I for one wish him well and do remember with the little coaching he has his rooky year he played well the last 6 games. He is a good kid that hopefully can and will become a good NFL QB. Good luck Sam. As Cmond stated, " JD is on the clock." Time to deliver some talent esp IOL, CB, backup QB.
This, I think, was a tough decision. There really was absolutely no clear answer. JD had two unknowns: Rookie QBs, and a QB who had three bad seasons and whose ceiling was no more known than that of the rookies in the draft. Obviously if this turns out to be the right move, JD deserves another pat on the back. If it doesn't, however, I'd go ahead and say he deserves to be cut some slack. I wouldn't put him on the clock for this alone. I still don't know what I would have done in his place. Time will tell.
