All that talk is just talk from us in the peanut gallery, pumped by the press guys trying to make it look like they know something that nobody else does. The GMs are not concerned about posturing they're just working their jobs. You can hold your breath through at least the first four calls on draft day because you're not going to know a thing before then unless Jacksonville decides to make an announcement.
Can you imagine how pissed the 49ers will be if JD trades Zach to some other team? Gotta figure the 9ers called JD first, but he said no, so the gave up the farm to Miami.
JT loves the kid. This tape shows some special throws even though it’s against sub par competition he’s hitting the target, showing off the arm strength and QB the awareness
They would still have a chance to move up to 2 if we had a deal on the table from someone else. Can’t blame anyone but yourselves at that point.
49ers have few to no valuable draft trade assets left to make a trade from 2 to 3 worthwhile for us. If on the unlikely chance we trade out of 2 it would have to be with someone trade assets like the Eagles at 12, the Panthers or the Broncos. I think it is pretty fair to say that trade down scenario is long gone or we would have done something with SF unless some team wants to do a Herschel Walker type trade that we simply can't refuse and the only team that likely could do that would be Philly with 3 firsts next 12. I guess there is the possibility that the medical exams of Wilson come back bad causing the FO to possibly shift in a different direction but JD seems 100 percent committed to Wilson.
The way Shanahan gushed about Josh Allen and the similarity of skillset kind of makes me think Tre Lance.
If the Jets were committed to trading out/ not taking a QB, I would 100% trade down with the Niners for a player(s) and/ or picks if they love Wilson. Then at 3, I would sell it to the highest bidder for anyone who wanted the next QB.
My thought also, sit him for a year behind Jimmy G and then off he goes. I think Lance has a huge upside, of course, I acknowledge it is a big risk on his body of work shown so far.
I think It's more likely they are In love with Justin Fields and are throwing out these smoke screens about how much they love Wilson, In hope we take Wilson over Fields. I think It's more likely that they are throwing out Mac Jones name to further that smoke screen. I don't buy Into this theory that the 49ers are In love with Wilson, yet, they give up the farm to pick at #3 anyway? Doesn't add up. If you love this QB so bad, you're convinced the team at #2 Is going to take him, so, why are they still so compelled to give up a ton to trade up anyway? I don't buy all of It at all.
I don’t know what to think, but the Jets could easily find out what the Niners are thinking by calling them about their interest in a trade up to 2. I’m sure behind the scenes both teams know the truth as the coaches are all still friends I would imagine
Very true indeed. You don't trade up to 3 without having at least two strong candidates equally weighted or close. If Wilson was their choice that trade would be massively risky and not worth it in my view. Oh Thanks
What a difference a couple of years make. In the run up to the 2017 draft, while I (and legler and a few others) were banging the table for Mahomes (or at least Watson) because we knew we needed a QB, what with Fitzpatrick, Petty, Geno, and the immortal Hackenberg on the roster the year before, most people here were hoping the likes of Garrett, Solomon, or Adams would fall to us, and were so happy when Adams did. I was disgusted, and knew we were doomed to continue to slide further into the shit. And not only did Macc ignore the most important position on the team, despite the gaping hole it was, he then went on to draft another Safety, and not one OL! Now, 4 years later, everyone wants a QB. And while the media has all but awarded Wilson to the Jets at #2, as a six decades follower of this franchise, I wouldn't bet on that. In fact, I wouldn't even bet that Douglas stays at #2, let alone takes a QB. I've been dumbfounded before at the ability of this franchise - over all different GMs and regimes - to "snatch defeat from the jaws of victory". Until I hear them say "The NY Jets, with the second pick in the 2021 Draft, take Zach Wilson (or Justin Fields)", I won't make any assumptions.
What could the 49ers trade to move up to 2? They don’t have a first round pick in the next two drafts to make it worthwhile, unless we really don’t want Wilson and can still get who we want at three while stockpiling 1st round picks that start in three years when they are likely late 1st rounders. The 49ers don’t have the trade assets to move up to 2 unless they add in Bosa which would be a bad move on their part.
I think 9ers called and JDs price included Bosa + 12 and they said fuck no. So they went to Miami because I feel they love Fields and are just playing games with the media. Like they did with Trubisky
