Yes, completely. Half of those teams backed out. Wilson played well or great on every one he was exposed to. That’s all he could do. Now, tell me, what happened to Fields against great corners like Northwestern, was that a concern, does it matter? I say strength of schedule is the only excuse you can use against Wilson.
IF Shanahan is convinced he has elite processor! It didn't sound to me that Steve was convinced. Otherwise I feel like he is leaning Fields/Lance due to mobility. Between these two he said Fields has more experience, so I assume he would go Fields.
Yes. His six bad quarters of football have been beaten to death and overanalyzed to highlight his flaws being that they're the only games they were really displayed in. He still didn't lose to team that likely still had some FCS recruits on his squad.
Thanks to the RB running for over 300 yards. And oh by the way, nothing has been beaten to death as much as strength of schedule.
They played split safety coverage on practically every down. They essentially dared OSU to beat them with the run. OSU obliged and won. Fields also hurt his thumb on his throwing hand that game. Should OSU have forced the pass instead so that folks on message boards don’t hold the game against Fields in the future prior to the draft?
A few questions. -Does Burrow count as an OSU QB? -Can we group Fields w/ all other OSU QBs when technically he was a UGA QB? -Who was the last great Wyoming QB prior to Allen, Texas Tech QB prior to Mahomes, Clemson QB prior to Watson...etc?
There is something to be said in Fields's favor that he put himself in the background and let the running game carry the team, knowing that he was hurt. It shows he values the team and winning over his own achievements.
Apparently injuring your throwing hand is an excuse for an entire bad season but not an excuse for one bad game with half your team out to COVID
I think the 9ers are playing games with the media. There’s precedent; they did it with Quinnen & Trubisky.
Everything is possible, that's why I am giving it 80% chance Jets will go with Zach at this time and not a Trevor Lawrence like 99% in spite of what Steve said. Steve just sounded like someone who is well connected to 49ers and Jets (former 49ers) coaches, and heard the same thing from both, but we will find out for sure on less than a month. Fields is the only other choice in my mind for #2, if something unexpected happens. I just checked draft odds, and it seems in line with that as well. https://www.vegasinsider.com/nfl/odds/draft/
IMO Young's hesitance was due to Jones' lack of athleticism, not so much his not being an elite processor, although he may have some doubts about that too. Young may be leaning Fields/Lance, but based on all I've heard, Shanahan is strongly leaning Jones.
Who played against the toughest defenses in the aggregate. Fields played against the toughest and Wilson the weakest as per this stat.
