The difference between the Eagles and the Niners is the Niners are ready to make a SB run so they could afford to take the chance. The Eagles probably have too many holes to part with 3 extra firsts for a QB. However, I would like it if they did. I think we already missed our chance with the Eagles. We probably could have gotten their 2,3 this season and first next season to swap down to 6, and 6 its turning out is the drivers seat to have your choice of skill players this draft. Plus we could have kept the dolphins boxed in. I still hope we can find a trade down because this is the year to do it.
Never say never, but like others have said, I don’t think JD wants to be out of top 10, rightfully so, that’s where day one starters are found, plug and play. The media is selling fans that only one player should be drafted by Douglas right now and that’s Wilson. There are some excellent players to be had and if JD can move down a bit within top 10, I wouldn’t be upset if he grabbed more picks this year, next year and grabbed some seriously skilled players, lord knows we need them!
With the outrageous hype around Wilson right now we could absolutely maul Carolina or Denver in a trade, if they are interested.
Can anyone afford to be wrong about a high first round qb? My god this early. This is his second draft and he just hired his first coach. He is going to be here another 3 years .
I only read the first page, but I do think that Gase is that bad of a coach that it’s making the situation look way worse than it is. JD has brought in some talented players and i expect them to at least look like a professional team this year and not the laughingstock that they were for the 2 years that maniac was here.
When JD was hired Gase had total control of the Jets He was GM and coach. He probably had as much to say about getting JD a 6 yr contract as anyone.
If you know the story, JD didn’t want the job, Chris Johnson had to show commitment to him and his plan for putting a winning team together and it was Chris who gave him the 6 year deal.
thats false. when JD was hired the jets still did the GM and HC are on the same level and both report to CJ. now with the gase firing and saleh hiring CJ said they will have a more traditional structure where JD is above RS and JD reports to CJ
I think the word interim GM needs applying. New York Jets[edit] The New York Jets announced that Gase would be the 19th head coach in the team's history on January 11, 2019. [11] On May 15, general manager Mike Maccagnan was fired and Gase was named interim general manager;[12] Gase retained the role until Joe Douglas was hired as the permanent general manager on June 6.[13] You might have to quote me for him to see it as he put me on ignore the other day, he doesn't like being wrong apparently.
His ticking clock will be accelerated if his free agent signings work out like Pierre Desir and Van Roten and he doesn't start pulling mid-round starters/contributors. If that happens, I'd imagine he gets one more draft/off-season before the heat really ramps up and rightfully so. Either way, I expect us to be competitive in most games even if W-L record does not follow and that'll be fine. The roster isn't ready but it appears as though it's much better and all three phases of the game will benefit from an improved pass rush. I'm also very curious to see how the Quinnen Williams contract is handled on both side. The only good players we've developed on the defensive side of the ball have been dealt away because the player power played themselves out of town with ridiculous money rumblings. I hope he has a great season and gets an appropriate contract after the season.
care to elaborate. because nothing I said is wrong and you don't seem to be able to point out what is wrong either
Desier and Van Roten were bad, but McGovern and Fant were solid signings. I did not like the Morgan, Zuniga, and Perine picks. Davis was meh. Becton, Mims, and Hall are the possible second contract players from the draft. Considering how bad we were before the draft, we needed more. I would've taken a second OL earlier than round 5 and a second WR. Lloyd Cushenberry in round 3 and Tyler Johnson in round 4 would've given this team more possible core players IMO.
JD has been ok not great overall but not awful Offseason 1 No draft (hired after MT draft and Free agency) Paid kalil 8.4 mil to unretire which was bad not much else done as he came on late after free agency and the draft Offseason 2 didn't fire gase (IDK if he was allowed to so can't fault him) traded adams for 2 1sts (great trade was midseason but adding it in) Let robby walk (bad move) signed perriman to replace him (bad move) signed GVR (bad move) signed mcgovern (good move) signed fant (good move) signed desier (bad move) signed gore (bad move but could have been to appease gase) signed onwuasor (bad move) Draft becton (great pick) draft mims( Jury out but so far so good) draft davis (jury out) draft zuniga (bust so far) draft perine and morgan (both bad) draft clark (jury out) draft mann (good) draft hall (great pick) I really think 2021 is a huge season to evaluate JD. will his 2020 draft grow and turn out good? can he make good picks in 2021, will his FAs perform. is saleh the right guy? time will tell but the evaluation of JD will really start after this season

Right now he’s batting .500 both in free agency and the draft. On the plus side , his misses in free agency haven’t been crippling (tru Johnson types) and his draft hits are key positions.Hall, becton and mims. If he keeps that up we’ll have no problems. For now though, he hired saleh so he gets 3 years and then it will have to be a clean sweep again or were looking at another Rex idzic situation.
Yeah on the pairing Saleh part if they do the disjointed keep the coach fire the GM horseshit again this message board (rightfully) might organize to burn Metlife to the ground.
