Wilson’s was a deeper down field throw but relatively same level of difficulty. I’d argue Sam’s in more impressive as it happened in a game w/ live bullets flying as opposed to an optimal environment in shorts.

Quite a few posters here seem to hate him.

Because it is considerded a day to day throw from most NFL QB and he has done it without any players on the field. Maybe I am reading too much into it, but it seems to be directed at the sudden popularity of Wilson.

I guess I make a distinction between questioning the hype & hating the player. I don’t get how the same “experts” who were afraid rank Mahomes ahead of the one year wonder Trubisky are so freely sticking their necks out for Wilson. Mahomes was such a superior prospect IMO & they came up with every excuse in the book. But now with Wilson, they are doing the opposite & dismissing everything.

ROFLOL! I couldn't possibly disagree more with any of your points. Not every QB can make the throw that Wilson made, unscripted or scripted, Pro Day or game. Sam's throw covered 30 yards, and while it was in a game, the receiver was much closer to him than Wilson's was. It's not even close. Wilson's throw was harder. The only thing that might have made Sam's throw more difficult is his own lousy accuracy.

But it's much more than just throwing. Did you read the Peter King article that TDK posted? That's why Wilson is a great choice.

The bold is mystifying. Are you implying that he is inaccurate in tighter windows, because I did not see that. You make your decisions based on the strength and quality of the defense you are playing. That is all he can do. He doesn't get to chose the level of competition. Great QBs push the limit based on the weaknesses of the defense. . His window will change in the NFL, where tighter windows and less separation are the norm. and the CS will for sure insist on that.
The bold for starter is utter nonsense. That is exactly where you place the ball at the NFL level, high and dropped in front of the receiver. That is a very, very hard pass to master. Brady and all good QBs spend a life time torturing the Jets doing just that. .

This just in - TL actually walked back to his house after performing his own shoulder surgery earlier this month. Part of the walk (the 40 yard dash he skipped on Pro day) was on water as he was crossing the pond. I guess it is #2 for Zach after all.

Did you see the pix of him standing next to his dad and mom? Dad is a BIG boy! He played OL for Univ. of Utah. I suspect Zach will bulk up as he matures. Look at what Brady went from. And I think his athleticism, elusiveness, and quick throwing will really limit how often he's hit. He's much more agile than Darnold as an example, and will be less injury prone than Sam.

His athletic & elusive enough but he’s super competitive. I’ve seen him try to hurdle & truck dudes. His frame is not suited for that. Not at the moment at least.

No one said Sam's throw wasn't awesome. But it was a DIFFERENT throw, and does not negate a good throw Zach made in the Pro day. This was meant as a put down for Zach, completely missed the mark, and it was just an abyzmal take.

Well, if you can play behind an OL that can give you that time, it helps. Hopefully the Jets OL will be much improved by personnel and scheme.

Ideally, I prefer my QB to be able to withstand the punishment in the instances the OL is not up to snuff.

Yeah, he's going to have to get that part of his game shut down. I'm pretty sure Saleh & Co. will get this across.

I still remember Namath running it in near the end of his Jets career, with his knees held together by athletic tape. The competitor in us is the last thing to go.
