The second, third, and fifth videos in this thread were not tight window ... the receivers won immediately at the line and created ample separation

the fifth vid is a touchdown with a more accurate pass

The second and third throws are the same throw and be dropping it in perfectly over two defenders. There was no separation let alone ample separation.

Not to mention this is not even the same throw. The one that went viral is where he goes 55 yards to the right while running to the left. Not saying this was unseen or anything, but it was a nice Pro Day showcase - no more and no less. Putting this down showing Sam making a nice 25 yard throw running to the left in a straight line is rather moronic.

Well, I've already pointed out the idiocy of the message, but the messenger did bring a pretty moronic take on Zach's pro day workout to everyone here on his own volition.

Wow, you found a way to put down some pretty awesome throws. No one said this was a 50/50 ball. Yes, on some of them receiver won, but Zach's delivery was pinpoint with not much of a room available for error (i.e. tight window).

I feel like a broken record but I have Wilson and Fields on somewhat of a level playing field. It’s baffling to me the way some people try to downplay what you can see with your own two eyes on tape from Wilson. He’s making some absolutely ridiculous throws that are irrelevant to level of competition. I don’t understand it. Do people feel that strongly about Justin fields? Like how can you watch some of those throws and be anything other than impressed?

The anti-Wilson backlash is bringing some really dumb takes out of some really smart posters.

Wilson's pro day throw was a pro day throw. No more no less. It was a nice throw. It doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Using a throw by Darnold that went half the distance Wilson's did as some sort of shot at Wilson is questionable at best.

What Sam did was exceptional, which is why people who still think he's more than "trash", hold that opinion. And it's silly and uninformed to showcase one spectacular throw during a Pro Day as "proof" that Wilson is great. That throw is only one part of the equation, as that Darnold throw is. Taken in isolation they're great throws but they don't come close to proving whether either are great QBs.

We know from watching Darnold that becoming great is a train that has already left the station in all likelihood. He can make unbelievable plays off script - it's maybe his greatest strength. But he struggles with consistent accuracy, poor decision-making, slow reaction, failures to read the defense properly. So no matter how many spectacular throws he might make, he's a losing QB until he can prove that he's fixed those problems.

In Wilson's case that throw shows what he's capable of, but he's also capable - and has consistently proven it - of making every throw with pinpoint accuracy, with an elite quick release, and adjusts his body and arm angles to make throws that don't seem to be there. Can he do this in the NFL? We can't possibly know, but if Douglas and Saleh think he can, I'll go with that.

  10. Just tight window DIMES..absolute BULLETS w anticpation w defenders draped all over the receiver.

I heard he did his OWN shoulder surgery W.o any anethesia..would have walked himself down to recivery too if he didnt tweak a hammy down home stretch of the procedure.. What now TL lovers?!

Pro days this season are more about meeting the player then watching them play catch.

Hearing Wilson supporters talk about Fields and Fields supporters talk about Wilson should tell you all you need to know about which side is being more rational and fair at the moment.

Kurt, you are hands-down one of my favorite posters here and I always enjoy reading what you have to say even when it doesn’t line up with my opinion. I’m baffled by your reaction to Wilson. In particular this string of videos. Why does watching those throws cause this reaction?

Great article, providing the real reasons Wilson is the right guy. I encourage everyone - especially the Wilson doubters - to read it, but this part here to me is a far greater reason the Jets should take him than a ridiculous 50 yard throw:

Wilson: “I had a couple of tells in that game. Coastal Carolina subbed in number four (linebacker Kendricks Gladney Jr.)—he was lined up over the center and I knew that when he did that and they were in their two-minute situation, they were gonna play a ‘two-invert,’ where the safeties would play the seams. The safeties would sink and the corners would actually roll and go and hug the high post and then the backers would sprint underneath to the flats. I knew exactly what coverage was coming based on where [Gladney] was lined up. We had called a ‘four verts’ package there [four receivers running go routes or forms of them] and I knew based on timing and everything that I wasn’t gonna be able to hold the ball or throw the ball on time. I knew that I was gonna have to hold it and move around a little bit and try to find something. I remember just knowing in that coverage, when the corner to the field had the vertical seam by the slot, that he’s gonna roll over and try to take it away. and someone else is gonna run underneath [our] outside guy and play in the flat. I knew there was a shot where if I could put that ball right over the guy in the flat, and on the back shoulder to where that corner is playing the seam, there was a little window right there almost like a hole shot at [BYU receiver Gunner Romney]. I just remember, if I keep my eyes down the field, I’ll hold him and I’ll just keep that corner looking then I can fire that shot in there and that’d be a big gain.”

Keep in mind, BYU had 40 hours notice to prepare for CC! In that time Wilson absorbed their tape to the level he was able to recall it in the heat of battle with the game on the line. Who does that?

Yes, still concerns about his durability, but the pluses so far outweigh that this should be a no-brainer.

I’m only speaking to the Darnold clip and caption referencing Wilson. That’s all that’s in THIS thread.

Sam’s problems is that he misses his lay-ups. Mahomes don’t have that problem. That & his superior arm talent is why one is potentially being replaced & the other is considered the Michael Jordan of the sport.

if that’s your stance then no wonder you don’t care about one random video posted without three years worth of context included.
