And Wilson can’t run a 4.4 & make people miss in open space like Fields. Not every QB is meant to be the same.
First off your number is BS, second who gives a fuck? Like you would now pass on a Breese type because of that? The QB number one job is to throw the fucking ball accurately. Sorry, who won the las SB ......again?
A pure Shanahan system prioritizes a QB w mobility so to say only throwing the ball matters,id disagree strongly in this scenario. Secondly when you get compared to Rodgers & Mahomes w only 1/3 years having quality production,it’d be nice to see that type of athleticism in a 3 cone/vert/broad. Instead we got a big ? in his one opportunity to show out.
I will say this about the guy. He has a cannon. he made a throw that was over 50 yards while rolling to the left. jeez. I think Sam is gone.
I’m not going to go there with you like we have on prospects in the past because this isn’t a debate you can win. Lawrence is John Elway 2.0 it’s really close though, Elway might edge him out by a little bit but it’s close. All time prospects coming into the NFL goes as follows in my opinion: 1. John Elway 2. Trevor Lawrence 3. Andrew Luck 4. Peyton Manning 5. Joe Namath
Boozer: "I doubt Fields can make the throws Wilson made today..." Legler: " And Wilson can’t run a 4.4..." Which trait would you rather have?
Not imo. Wait and see. Lawrence isn't nearly as accurate as Wilson and doesn't have the ability to extend and create like Wilson does. I think it is Lawrence that is overhyped. If it's asinine, it's asinine. I can live with that.
I don't care about winning. We'll see who has the best career in the NFL. Even if Lawrence is better, I won't care as long as Wilson is as good as I think he will be.
Let's see...a QB who can make incredible throws, but shouldn't runt he ball in the NFL, or a "QB" who can run a 4.4 but has problems reading Ds, going through progressions, has an elongated throwing motion, etc. Duh, I'll take Wilson every single time.
I think legler is legit as well (racism card when majority preferred Wilson over Fields notwithstanding), and made some good calls on Mahomes and Allen. Guess who made these calls too and a ton more good ones, and actually played QB in NFL, and a son of a legendary one? That dude thinks Wilson is OK. And he is not alone.
After watching Wilson's Pro Day, and being impressed as I expected I would be, I wanted to see if I'm being affected by "recency bias", so I watched Trevor Lawrence's Pro Day: Watch all Trevor Lawrence's throws from Clemson pro day (nfl.com) So here's my thoughts: Lawrence is good. Is he better than Wilson? Honestly, I don't know. They're two different styles. I think Wilson has a more compact motion which I think is a plus, and can make some unbelievable throws off platform, and going back across the field, but Lawrence has a hell of an arm, and is very mobile in his own style. For what I think the Jets will be running, I do think Wilson is a better fit. That said, there is a very quiet confidence that Lawrence puts out, a "Been there; done that; bought the t-shirt". In contrast, Wilson is like the cocky new kid in school. I'm not saying one is better than the other, but I do believe Lawrence will succeed without any doubt. Interesting side note on TL's Pro Day: Urban Meyer was there and was glued to the hip of Dabo Sweeney, like it was a personal "command performance" solely for Meyer. And of course Meyer was NOT at Wilson's P.D. so there's no question the Jags are taking Lawrence.
