Didn't know that connection was there but what you post makes a lot of sense. Again, its Zach Wilson to the Jets unless the incredible happens..
At his pro day he looked pretty darn flawless throwing to his left.Throws an elite level slant as well as anything down the seam. To his right was a different story. He just doesnt look totally comfortable.Little more of a windup on those throws, dropping his feet in the bucket after his release & some downright eratic throws to that side. That said enough decent ones to offset any dealbreakers His WRs have never really done him any favors in terms of catching contested balls esp over the middle, getting to spots & ESPECIALLY running under perfectly thrown deep balls. There are at least 10 tds or massive chunk plays on his game tape that are left on the field due to WR errors. A handful more of Big boy tight window throws driven down the seam or over the middle w anticipation that Receivers dropped or were outmuscled for. All i know is.. havent seen back 7 defenders get their feet tangled trying to respect his slashing ability as a ball carrier combined w his smooth release on very deep throws in a LONG time. The way Dbs bail to get deep in acouple games is Marino-esque
Absolutely he and any of the top QBs could lead us to the Super Bowl. Coaching/system plays a HUGE part in QB success in the NFL. This is strictly an upside debate. No one in this draft has higher upside IMO than Fields. There aren’t too many QBs walking around on this planet w/ Fields’ unique combination of arm talent, athleticism & leadership qualities. The draft pundits are severely underselling Fields & overselling IMO Wilson. Mel Kiper has recently come back to his senses & ranked Fields ahead of Wilson but still believes Wilson will be drafted before him.
Anything under 4.5 is insane to be honest. That’s an added dimension that to an offense that none of the other top prospects can match. Lance can run but he’s not as fast & more straight line. Fields is legit skill player fast & elusive on top of being top tier pocket passer.
Put those others above me please.Im by far the biggest asshole of that group. Some great minds on here. No agendas or fanatical hype. Its appreciated.
So the consensus is that Wilson is not good and that 3 years from now we would still be looking for the next overated QB?
i'm aware i was just pointing out how miami is loaded rams did fine with goff. colts did fine with old rivers and lucks backup. pats won 11 games with matt cassell. the whole QB thing is overblown. you need a good team. miami has a good team. even with decent QB play they are a good team
Its an art form that can yield consistency w the right balance of leadership, synergy & truly great “artists”
i htink fields would be bets putting on 10 lbs and running an offense similar to what cam ran in carolina with the RPO
Red you just described year 2 or a rebuild. I'd say we can agree to disagree on this but that doesn't apply. In 2019 the dolphins hired a new coach and implemented a new system. They traded away their starting QB for capital, and gave up a 2nd to take a chance on Rosen. The chance they took on Rosen was a little off plan, but not that far off, and that is year 1 of a rebuild. They have since focused on gaining as much capital as possible. This will be year 3 of their rebuild. We are starting with a new coach and a new system, and should now be adding picks whenever possible (like Adams trade). We are in year 1 of our rebuild, (or year 8 if you want to count failed rebuilds). We are two rebuilding years behind Miami. You might feel like their drafts have been poor, yet they fielded a young top 5 defense last season. After this draft they are a serious contender next season.
This is the second time in as many months you've said he should put on weight when it's already been proven that he's as big as most of the quarterbacks in the NFL if not bigger. He's also the second biggest QB in the class behind Trask.
god D, good o-line. it's a good start. young Qb with potential. added some WRs plenty of picks for WR, and RB and if tua fails enough picks to grab a QB next year like sam howell
He's fine for a typical QB. if he's gonna run an offense like cam he isn't. Cam was bigger and look how fast he broke down
