You think we have it bad? Ask the Seattle Mariners and their fans how painful it's been having not played in the postseason since 2001. And that was the year they won 116 games.
Atleast we made some noise in back to back seasons...some teams haven’t won a playoff game since the 90s or earlier
The problem isn't missing the playoffs though. It is having horrendously bad seasons during those 10 years. Only 2011 (8-8), 2013 (8-8) and 2015 (10-6) were respectable and competitive. The other 7 were flat out embarrassing. That is the true issue to me.
One thing about the Jets is we usually win wildcard games before we screw it all up. Its rare for us to be one and done.
Not for nothing, but the last time the Dolphins won a playoff game was 21 years ago. Yeah, it's bad for the Jets, but it's not the worst.
I want to make this tweet a banner and hang it at the entrance of Florham Park. Let players see it each time they come to practice. If this doesn't put a fire under them each game I don't know what else will.
Thread title worried me. When I saw it involved the past and not the present, it actually felt like good news!
We really are in a class of our own. They should invent a new division just for us. I bet we'd still finish second.
This situation reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George decided to do the opposite of his gut instinct. Jerry convinces him that "if every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right". In the case of the Jets, doing the opposite was hiring a competent GM and letting him pick the coach. I think it will work out better than recent history.
Nothing new there. Every Jets fan could have nailed this on Final Jeopardy. It could have been applied to the Knicks too. New York is long over due. The Wilpons are gone now so here's hoping the Mets start to turn the corner also.
