Yup! I think JD planned on going into this draft ready to pick a CB. That is becoming more and more apparent
I'm going to assume this is one year deal. But I like it. Obviously in a part time role he can still be effective. Up 4 with 1:50 to go in the fourth quarter. Lawson, Williams, Rankins, Curry rushing the QB. No more crazy blitzing. That's pretty exciting to think about that.
One year deal worth $2 million. Tevin is alright but he's getting up there in age for a RB. I guess he knows the offense well though.
sure is safe to say that the front 4/5 DL will certainly be the focus of this staff moving forward. hopefully we can have a resurgence and subsequent impact in that group similar to that of the early 80's.
At this point, given who they've signed so far, it looks like Douglas has achieved what he wants: no urgency to draft any particular position, with maybe the exception of QB...that's assuming he wants to draft a QB. So he's free to take BPA, which is normally something I don't like, but in this case makes some sense. Unlike when Maccagnan followed the BPA All Day Every Day recipe, which completely neglected all the holes he had to fill. While it sounds weird to say a 2-14 team has no gaping holes, on paper, they have addressed almost all of them for now.
JD set us up.... focus on oline, CB, QB and a RB in the draft..... and we are set Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Local from Neptune. I never met Vinny but see his father every now and then. Super nice and respected family, I like this signing
It shouldn't be. IMO it never should have been, even if we hadn't signed Lawson. Once we did, it was a slam dunk to move on. There is not a single blue chip pass rusher in this year's draft. There's 2-3 next year and we have two first round picks next year. That will give us a great chance to get one of them. I'd rather wait a year and get a blue chip prospect at the position, than take one this year just to take one, which would probably mean that we wouldn't take one next year if we took one in the 1st or 2nd round this year. We have Zuniga and Huff and need to give them a chance to develop and see what they can do. One or both may prove to be very good. We have Lawson, Q, and Raskins, and now we have Vinny Curry. We don't need another DE. We need a CB, and a WLB and the rest of the picks should go to the offense and STs: QB, OG, RT, TE, RB & WR, and maybe a PR and K. One nice thing about not having a 7th round pick is that after the Jets make their pick in the 6th round, they can start contacting priority players that they think will be UDFAs.
