I am not a QB guru but I was reading some site the other day and it mentioned a couple of QB's can anybody add some flesh to the names or spot flaws in the highlights reel? Davis Mills, Stanford, also keep your eye on the main receiver Simi Fehoko. Peyton Ramsey, Northwestern, scored 30 on the Wonderlic test.
Too bad that Wilson doesn't have more of his father's build, at least the broader shoulders and a little more heft.
Ramsey doesn't have an NFL arm and no real athleticism that'll translate so I doubt he'll even get drafted (maybe 6th/7th). Davis Mills has absolute zero production behind what he brings to the table. Tough to blame him as he didn't start til midseason in 2019 when Costello went down and the entire Stanford team was destroyed by injuries. I would guess he's a 5th or later flyer. Another guy without a ton of athleticism though.

Mills has plenty of arm and ability but he was supposed to be a backup until his senior year and got thrown on a team that had a ton of injuries as a junior and the shortened season as a senior. Kind of feel bad for kids like him with the way the season went. Did he declare? They were given another year of eligibility because of the way the season fell.
Smart. He was a super highly recruited player. At the very worst he can try and get on the NFL pension and then take that Stanford degree and all his money and run.
Ya same here. As far as the 'experts', I wonder what they would a said about a Tom Brady highlight real 20 years ago! "terrible footwork, weak arm, goofy thin frame, not an NFL qb at all". "Comes from money, bad attitude". LOL
Peyton Ramsey strikes me as the type of guy who is going to have a long NFL career as a backup. He’s played a ton of football and has that Ryan Fitzpatrick knack of using his legs to step up in the pocket and run.
I keep reading posters talking about this isn't the time to draft a QB. And the time is more 2022 than 2021 in this rebuild. I think that is ridiculous. If the Jets feel Zach Wilson is the perfect QB for them and the right system fit, then they should draft him. If not, then they should not. It is that simple. (Fields, Lance etc too) The QB position is not settled with the Jets. They have a high pick and that is the most important position in pro sports, with multiple top prospects available. And, if the Jets don't feel the roster is strong enough to support his success as some posters think (I think it will be strong enough) then they can sit the QB until they feel 1. He is ready 2. His supporting cast is ready. The only way the Jets don't draft a QB is if Joe Douglas and company truly don't feel any of them are going to be successful in the NFL.
The question that begs answering for those advocating waiting until next year to draft a QB is this: Who exactly do you think will be better than any of the current class? Drop the dodge of "Well every year someone pops up that's called the 'Next Great QB' so I'm sure there will be one available". Oh yeah? Who? Who are the "contenders" that you think can inherit that title? Name names. Enough with the vague assertions that can't be debated or supported. There's tape and analyses available for the 2022 class, so you can make your case. Let's hear it. And here's another equally important question: How do you propose the Jets enable themselves to be in a position to draft such a stud? Because sure as shit they won't be picking #2 on merit. Sure, it's possible that a great QB could fall to them in the 10-20 range where they'll likely be drafting, but the odds of that happening are slim. Does it really make sense to pass on taking a highly rated QB this year that requires no draft capital or other assets used to trade up, in favor of the slim possibility of being able to draft a potential FQB - who at this point remain unidentified by anyone - next year? With all of this said, it won't shock me if Douglas chooses to trade down and not even take a QB this year. If so, I will be disappointed and will likely just detach from this circus until such time - if ever - they finally figure out how to win.
Well, at this time last year I bet my house no one on TGG would have even known who Zack Wilson is, let alone anointing him the next Patrick Mahomes. So yes, these guys do 'just appear'. Also, there wasn't really much college ball even played last year, so there's a whole crop of QBs you've never even heard of. That will change during the 2021 season. No?
Just answer the question: Name the guy you think will be worth waiting for and gambling on the chance you can get him.
Wilson came out of nowhere because he had a really, really good season. It's possible someone does the same next year but I don't think we can say it's likely. Some QB's get overdrafted every year because of how QB-needy teams are. That's a different thing than a guy rising the ranks rapidly because he had a truly great season at QB. We need to differentiate the two.
Guys like Zach Wilson, Murray, Burrow no one has heard of a season earlier do pop-up once in a while. Could there be one next year? Maybe, maybe not. If there is, like his predecessors you are looking at the selection at the very top of the draft and unlikely to get traded. Murray and Burrow went one, and Zach will likely go #2, since there is a generational talent ahead of him. What makes you think Jets will be in position to get one even if there is one available, which is far from certain? It's very unlikely we will got a top pick in the next draft. We could be 7-9 picking 15th like Patriots. We have a shot at guy like it NOW though. No better time to strike.
